Floyd Mayweather: Talks of Negotiations with Manny Pacquiao Are Lies, Lies, Lies
Contrary to the general consensus that negotiations have been underway for a proposed Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao super-fight, well, according to fighthype.com and Mayweather, nothing can be further from the truth.
The five-division world champion has staunchly refuted that any actual discussions have taken place concerning a potential fight with Pacquiao.
Things came to a head when he was informed of a press release titled "Pacquiao, Mayweather Press Release."
The press release, sent by Vice President of Falcon Hawk Entertainment Mike Garibay, affirmed that they were "one of the wealthy investor groups" that Bob Arum was allegedly doing business with.
Falcon Hawk Entertainment is headed by Donny Rucker (president of the company), Garibay and Joseph Jackson (the father of the late pop star Michael Jackson).
It also mentioned that Mayweather’s uncles, Roger and Jeff, were conducive in setting up a meeting with Michael Koncz and Mayweather in regards to the projected "Welterweight Fight of the Century" transpiring.
As it happens, Mayweather openly admitted to meeting with Koncz at his gym, but vehemently denies any prior knowledge of the meeting taking place before it actually did. Also, at the time, he had no idea who Koncz was or who he was representing.
Furthermore, Mayweather’s fiancée, Shantel Jackson, for some apparent reason was brought into the mix—the press release purported that she was a niece of Joseph Jackson, and thus negotiations between Mayweather and FHE had run smoothly—a gesture of "goodwill and harmony" as they put it.
Mayweather went so far as to say that even if there was the slightest chance of negotiations taking place, whomsoever it was would first have to deal with his adviser Al Haymon, and Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe.
Mayweather also made it clear that he doesn’t require investors to make the fight happen, and that the two stumbling blocks relate to Arum’s intentional skullduggerish attempts at sabotaging the mega-fight.
The other block is the lawsuit that Pacquiao filed against the former for defamation of character, which at present is still ongoing.
Also, Mayweather intimated that Arum’s apparent meeting with investors such as FHE, who haven’t the financial clout to front something on the scale of that magnitude, is due to the fact that he’s wary of being outed as a fraud.
Be that as it may, Mayweather did suggest that in stark contrast to Arum, he felt Pacquiao was ready and willing to make the fight happen.
The saga continues.
