Week 13 Waiver Wire Pickups: 3 Players You Would Be Stupid to Pass Up
The fantasy football waiver wire isn't loaded with "must-adds" this week, but there are a few players that you must not let your buddy grab before you do.
With the playoffs around the bend, it's never a bad idea to grab some guys to fill in for your injured running back or to have just in case your No. 3 WR is seeing a decrease in targets.
These are the three guys you cannot pass up this week.
Roy Helu
1 of 3At this point in the season, when scouring the waiver wire, what more could you ask for than a runner that's recently been named the feature back on his team and is fresh off a 100-plus yard rushing performance?
Nothing.
If you're battling injury issues at one of your RB spots, Roy Helu is your best option.
Finally, Mike Shanahan has fully committed to the rookie runner.
Don't be scared away by the fact that he's facing the New York Jets stonewall run defense.
Even if he doesn't really get going on the ground, you know he'll be featured in the screen game, and Rex Grossman will undoubtedly check down to him when the Jets bring pressure.
Remember, Helu had seven catches for 54 yards last week.
Johnny Knox
2 of 3Knox has been relatively quiet this season, with only 28 grabs on the year, but he exploded last week against the Raiders.
He finished the game with four receptions for 145 yards and a touchdown.
Caleb Hanie surely isn't the quarterback Jay Cutler is, but Chicago's new starter did throw the ball in Knox's direction 10 times last Sunday and hit him on an 81-yard bomb.
Although the Chiefs have a solid secondary that held the Steelers' speedsters in check last week, it's unlikely that any of their top guys will cover Knox out of the slot this weekend.
Pick him up.
Matt Moore
3 of 3With the multitude of injuries many fantasy owners have endured over the last few weeks, Matt Moore is a must-add in my estimation.
Over the last four games, Moore has averaged 1.75 touchdown passes and only 0.25 interceptions. He's completing over 67 percent of his passes and has thrown for an average of 225 yards in those games—not bad for a guy that is most likely a free agent in your league.
The Raiders have an underrated secondary, but statistically, they aren't fabulous.
Opponents are averaging nearly 240 yards through the air against them, and don't expect Moore to make the dumb decisions Caleb Hanie did last week.
