Liverpool FC: Juan Agudelo To Train with Reds, Jonjo Shelvey Recalled
Liverpool FC will welcome American forward Juan Agudelo to the training facility at Melwood. The 19-year-old recently completed a training stint with Stuttgart in Germany.
Agudelo is following the wishes of U.S. national team coach Jurgen Klinsmann, who has asked that MLS-based players stay active during the offseason in an effort to stay sharp.
In a statement to MLSsoccer.com, Red Bulls sporting director Erik Solér said the team was happy that Agudelo was staying active.

"We're very pleased that Juan is staying fit and gaining tremendous experience training at the highest level at Stuttgart of the German Bundesliga and now Liverpool of the English Premiership," Solér said. "For such a young player, these stints are invaluable and we are eager to continue to track his development heading into the upcoming MLS season."
For his part, Agudelo tried to be coy when tweeting about his plans for the offseason. On Wednesday, he wrote, “Flight to England tomorrow. ill keep my followers n fans on a suspenseful cliff hanger, without naming the team i will be training with Yet.”
Agudelo returned to Twitter 30 minutes later, realizing his plans weren't exactly a secret.
“Okkkkkk.... I guess a lot of people knew already lolol. #LFC it is,” he added.
Agudelo isn't the only American training with Liverpool FC these days. In early November, 17-year-old midfielder Marc Pelosi joined the Liverpool academy set-up.
Jonjo Shelvey Recalled
Liverpool FC have recalled midfielder Jonjo Shelvey from Blackpool, where he'd been playing on loan. Shelvey's return became necessary after Lucas Leiva suffered an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament in his left leg in the 2-0 win against Chelsea on Tuesday.
Leiva has been ruled out for the rest of the 2011-12 season.
