NBA Free Agents 2011: Caron Butler Would Be Amazing Steal for Chicago Bulls

Now that's just not fair. 

Amidst the Miami Heats, Celtics, Lakers and Knicks, something has been lost on us all. The Chicago Bulls are a damn good team. They are quietly eyeing a coup that would make them that much better and explosive: Caron Butler. 

The fact is Butler is going to be a steal this winter. Ken Berger of CBS Sports writes the following:

Along with the Nets, Clippers, Bulls, Heat and Spurs, the Knicks also expressed interest in Caron Butler -- but New York is going to be extremely careful not to eat into cap space next summer in the event Paul gets to free agency.

"

And so it will go for most of the teams looking to spend this free-agent period. They all want to save now and see what's possible next offseason. 

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports the Butler sweepstakes may be just a two-horse race at the moment. Butler has stated that he likes the Clippers and Bulls. 

So which would he prefer? That's hard to say, but there is this rather telling tweet from Chicago Tribune writer K.C. Johnson to consider. 

If the Bulls are going to pounce, they should do so soon, because the market for Butler is only going to get stiffer as teams miss out on the big fish in the pond.

You have to consider that if Butler is healthy and can regain the form he had before his knee surgery, you are getting an All-Star player for cheap. 

Butler is as dynamic as they come. The Bulls will not be in want of scoring or an uptempo player willing to step in and mix it up. 

We like to bandy about all those other star-studded teams. If the Bulls can get a hold of Butler, they will shine as brightly as any of those teams.
