WWE News: Several Top FCW Talents Headed to WWE's Main Roster?

Drake OzDec 2, 2011

One thing that sets the WWE apart from other major wrestling promotions—well, at least until recently—is its developmental territory, Florida Championship Wrestling.

FCW gives the WWE a chance to prepare its competitors for the big stage, and it has helped groom some notable stars, such as Wade Barrett, Hunico, Alex Riley and Justin Gabriel, among others. It truly is a great resource, one that will help refill the WWE with talent as long as it’s in existence.

It looks like the WWE is planning on giving some of its current FCW stars a few trial runs in the near future to see if they’re ready to be called up to the main roster:

WWE officials will be giving several of the top FCW talents tryouts on the road over the next few weeks.

With the current never-ending season of NXT still going on and the future of that show in jeopardy, I think it’s wise for the WWE to give some of its most talented FCW stars a chance to head straight to the main roster.

Whereas NXT produced a solid amount of talent—such as Barrett, Daniel Bryan, etc.—we’ve all seen what a push right to Raw or Smackdown can do.

Running video packages for someone like Alberto Del Rio and then immediately inserting them into high-profile storylines can result in a much bigger payoff and turn that former FCW star into a bona fide WWE superstar.

Right off the bat, I can think of plenty of FCW stars who I’d love to see called up sooner rather than later: Seth Rollins (a.k.a. Tyler Black), Richie Steamboat (son of WWE Hall of Famer Ricky Steamboat), Dean Ambrose, Antonio Cesaro (a.k.a. Claudio Castagnoli) and Xavier Woods (a.k.a. Consequences Creed).

The WWE has a boatload of talent down there in FCW, and the company would be wise to bring one or two of them up to the main roster soon and see if they can skyrocket up the WWE ladder like guys like Barrett, Del Rio and Sheamus did.

Personally, though, I’d hold off until bringing any of these guys in until after WrestleMania 28 because they’re not going to be featured in high-profile matches at the show, and you don’t want to overshadow their debuts.
