WWE News: Reported Plans for Stable Involving Hunico, Epico and Primo

Drake OzDec 2, 2011

Whatever happened to stables in the WWE?

Aside from the Nexus and The Corre, the WWE has largely stayed away from factions in recent years, and the ones that the creative team does get behind hardly ever live up to expectations (such as Nexus).

Some say that stables don’t really have a place in the WWE anymore, but I’d argue that they definitely can contribute to the product if booked right. That second part, of course, is the key, so let’s hope the WWE can achieve that with its new stable that will reportedly be officially forming soon.

From the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (via SEScoops.com):

"

With Primo, Hunico and Epico recently aligning themselves together on SmackDown, there are plans to add Rosa Mendes to the new stable.

Following the recent breakup of Awesome Truth and the Wellness violation of tag team champion Evan Bourne, Hunico and Epico are being groomed for a run with the WWE tag team titles.

"

Fine by me.

While this stable would be somewhat of a ripoff of TNA’s Mexican America, I don’t really have a problem with the WWE borrowing an idea from TNA as long as this Hunico-led stable actually serves an important purpose in storylines going forward.

Apparently, that is the plan, though, as it looks like Hunico and Epico could be the next team to challenge Kofi Kingston and Evan Bourne for the WWE Tag Team Championship.

I’m all for seeing that rivalry because Air Boom, Epico & Hunico and the Usos are pretty much the only full-time, legitimate tag teams the WWE has at the moment.

Whereas most stables have at least one main-event caliber wrestler, I don’t see that with this luchador trio, so having them gun for the tag team titles rather than a World championship definitely makes sense to me.

Now that Sin Cara’s sidelined and Hunico will no longer be able to feud with him, I’d start a long rivalry between Hunico’s stable and Air Boom that eventually sees Kingston and Bourne dropping the titles.

It could give Hunico, Epico and Primo something to do until Rey Mysterio and Sin Cara return from injury, and it would also give Rosa Mendes a reason to be on the WWE roster.
