NFL Week 13 Predictions: Projecting the Week's Top QB Performances

Chris TrapassoDec 1, 2011

Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady and Drew Brees are having historically awesome seasons. They've been especially kind to their fantasy football owners this year.

They're essentially on the same level—playing far more efficiently than other signal-callers in the NFL

These three are typically the top fantasy quarterbacks each week.

Where do their matchups place them in Week 13's QB rankings?

1. Aaron Rodgers at New York Giants

No surprise here.

Drew Brees torched the New York Giants usually-respectable secondary on Monday Night Football, and although playing in windy Met Life Stadium isn't the same as throwing inside the Superdome, I've got faith in Mr. Rodgers.

I expect the Giants, who could finally have their full complement of wide receivers back, to put up points to keep this game close.

This game has shootout written all over it.

Great for Rodgers and his fantasy owners.

Three or four total touchdowns are not out of the question.

2. Tom Brady vs. Indianapolis Colts

2 of 4

The Patriots are 21-point favorites this week against the Colts?

Have you ever seen that point spread in an NFL game?

I haven't.

New England should have their way with Indianapolis in this one. The real question remains—will Bill Belichick call off the dogs if the Patriots have a three or four possession lead?

I'm not sure.

That's why Brady is the No. 2 gun-slinger this week.

If he doesn't throw for more than 300 yards I'll be disappointed, and he should have at least three touchdown tosses.

3. Cam Newton at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

3 of 4

Newton hasn't had a 300-yard passing game since Week 4, but he's been good for between 200-250 yards each week and hasn't slowed down as a runner.

Tampa Bay is 30th against the run, and you'd better believe Newton will get goal-line carries on Sunday.

He should have an above-average day through the air as well, mainly due to the Bucs' 28th-ranked secondary that's surrendering more than 250 passing yards a game.

If he throws a touchdown pass or two, he should be in for another monster game, because his production on the ground is almost a sure thing.

4. Drew Brees vs. Detroit Lions

4 of 4

Rather low for Brees.

This Saints and Lions game could have a similar feel to New Orleans' contest with the Giants last week on Monday Night Football, when Brees threw for 363 yards and accounted for five total touchdowns.

The Superdome is the fantasy-point factory, and with the premier passing and receiving talent on both teams, we could be in for another exciting, high-scoring affair.

Brees is on fire and shouldn't have a problem dicing through Detroit's secondary, which was victimized last week by Aaron Rodgers.

Four passing touchdowns again?

Very possible.
