Week 13 Waiver Wire: Looking at the Best Available Injury Replacements

Zach KruseNov 30, 2011

Have an injury to one of your fantasy starters? You're not alone. All of the following big-name injuries have replacements waiting in the Week 13 waiver wire.

Injury: RB Adrian Peterson, Vikings

Replacement: RB Maurice Morris, Lions

The Vikings haven't officially ruled out Peterson for Sunday's game with Denver, but it's unlikely that he'll play on a lingering ankle injury. Morris is a good replacement option, as he'll likely start in New Orleans for an injured Kevin Smith. Morris contributed 120 total yards in relief on Thanksgiving against the Packers.

Injury: WR Sidney Rice, Seahawks

Replacement: WR Johnny Knox, Bears

Rice sustained his second concussion of the season last Sunday, so he'll be hard-pressed to play in Thursday's game against the Eagles. Instead of rolling that dice, go with Knox, who has revived his 2011 season with back-to-back big games. Knox led the Bears in targets in Caleb Hanie's first start.

Injury: QB Michael Vick, Eagles

Replacement: QB Vince Young, Eagles

Because of the Eagles' short week, Vick will again be on the sidelines. Instead of going to a different team for a replacement, stay in Philly with Vince Young. The Seahawks defense has been tough at times in 2011, but Young's threat to run makes him a relatively safe fantasy option.

Injury: WR Jeremy Maclin, Eagles

Replacement: WR James Jones, Packers

I'm starting to sound like a broken record, but the short week will likely keep Maclin out on Thursday. If you're willing to play the risk/reward card, then go with Jones. He'll always have the potential to score in the Packers offense, but there's also the chance that he sees the ball very little with all the options Aaron Rodgers has to throw to.
