Main Card: Miguel Cotto vs. Antonio Margarito
Cotto's loss to Margs the first time wasn't without controversy. The Puerto Rican and current WBA (Super) light middleweight title holder contends that Margs' wraps were dipped in plaster.
Margs also had his orbital bone broken by the fists of Pacquiao causing serious damage to his eye and forcing him from the ring for a year. The state of New York forced the Mexican fighter to take a last minute examination before granting him a license.
Needless to say, Cotto has been much better off since the last fight between he and Margs.
Some wonder, despite Margs' contention that he is willing to "die" in the ring, if he should be in this fight at all. His eye could be permanently damaged if hit good (technically bad) enough.
Cotto fought nine months ago; its been over a year since Margs stepped in the ring.
Will rust have anything to do with it? Unlikely.
Will we be treated to a true brawl? Damn right.
Is this fight worth watching? Absolutely.
This pay-per-view kicks off a string of December fights to close the year that includes Wladimir Klitschko vs. Jean-Marc Mormeck (Dec. 10 - Dusseldorf, Germany), Amir Khan vs. Lamont Peterson (also Dec. 10 - Washington D.C.) and Andre Ward vs. Carl Froch (Dec. 17 - Atlantic City) in the Super Six World Boxing Classic final.
This is the fight that gets it all started.
Prediction: Cotto defeats Margarito with 11th round TKO
