In the final game of the Mountain West Conference regular season, New Mexico (1-10, 1-5) takes on No. 7 Boise State (10-1, 5-1). 

Boise State has an outside chance at making a BCS Bowl Game this year and should not be tested in this game. Boise State will have a great night to have senior day for starting quarterback Kellen Moore in his last game in college football.

Betting Line: According to Bodog, the betting line for this game is Boise State being favored by 49 points. As hard of a point spread as this will be to cover, Boise State will cover this spread, as New Mexico is giving up 41 points per game.

Key Storyline: Will Boise State make it into a BCS Bowl Game despite not winning the MWC? The Broncos will finish the year near the top five of the final BCS Standings and have a great resume of wins. However, because they will finish second in their conference, it may keep them on the outside looking in. 

Who Might Not Play for New Mexico

RB Kasey Carrier: Carrier is questionable for Saturday’s game with a knee injury. That injury has kept him out of New Mexico’s last eight games.

WR Michael Scarlett: Scarlett is out for Saturday’s game with a knee injury.

WR Lamaar Thomas: Thomas is out for the season with a foot injury. 

Who Might Not Play for Boise State 

CB Ebenezer Makinde: Makinde is questionable with a leg injury. 

CB Jamar Taylor: Taylor is questionable for Saturday’s game with a leg injury.

RB Jay Ajayi: Ajayi is out for the season with a knee injury.

BCS/Top 25 Implications

This game means everything to Boise State. They will win this game easily, but will need help from the BCS Bowl Selection Committee to make it in as an at-large. 

New Mexico Players to Watch

QB B.R. Holbrook: Holbrook leads the Lobos in passing this year with 1,345 yards and four touchdowns this year.

RB Crusoe Gongbay: Gongbay is the leading rusher for New Mexico this year. He has led this Lobos teams with 483 yards and five touchdowns this year.

WR Deon Long: Long is the leading receiver for New Mexico, as he has 39 receptions, 713 yards and four touchdowns this year.

Boise State Players to Watch

QB Kellen Moore: Moore is one of the best quarterbacks in college football. This year, he has 3,194 passing yards with 38 touchdowns to seven interceptions. 

RB Doug Martin: Martin is having a great season this year as Boise’s feature running back. He leads the club with 1,038 yards and 13 touchdowns. 

WR Tyler Shoemaker: Shoemaker is Moore’s favorite target in this wide receiver crop. On the year, Shoemaker has 52 receptions, 853 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Key Matchup 

Boise State’s Kellen Moore vs. New Mexico’s 119th ranked defense. Moore will not be tested in this game. The matchup here is if New Mexico can hold Moore to under six touchdowns in this game. 

Prediction

There is no way that Boise State loses this game on Saturday. They are the much more talented team, they are at home and it’s senior day.
