Drew Brees Right to Apologize to Michael Jordan for Pathetic Dunk Attempt

Donald WoodNov 29, 2011

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees is a touchdown machine, but his celebrations aren’t nearly as potent as his air attack.

While Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady are elite quarterbacks, Brees showed his dominance in every aspect of the game on Monday night against the New York Giants.

Well, almost every aspect of the game.

It was during Brees' outstanding 363-yard performance that the Saints quarterback threw for four touchdowns. As if that wasn't enough, Brees also added an eight-yard rushing touchdown.

While the game was flawless, Brees hit one major roadblock; his touchdown celebration.

As seen in the footage, Brees sees an alley and hits it hard. The rare rushing touchdown is the perfect chance for Brees to pull out the Michael Jordan cradle dunk.

It wasn’t a bad attempt to be honest. His form is nice but you can see from the jump that he is not getting enough air to pull that off. Instead of hitting what would have been an epic touchdown celebration, Brees just ends up looking foolish.

This all started because of tight end Jimmy Graham’s background in basketball and his affinity with dunking the football after scoring touchdowns.

Brees felt left out. The saddest part, though, is that the Saints QB had this planned out and still failed to convert.

It was at the post-game press conference where the rightful apology comes out. Leave it to one of the classiest players in the NFL to apologize to the greatest basketball player of all time for his terrible attempt at reenacting his legendary dunk.

That’s also very telling on how handedly the Saints beat the New York Giants as well.

While the dunk had everyone spouting their opinion, the only thoughts I'd really like to hear on this matter would be those of Jordan himself.

I would pay money to hear MJ chop down Brees and his attempt at his cradle dunk.

If there is one thing Michael Jordan wouldn’t be, it’s flattered.
