Ndamukong Suh Gets Smacked with Deserved 2-Game NFL Suspension

Kyle VassaloNov 29, 2011

Commissioner Roger Goodell brought the hammer down on Ndamukong Suh for his ugly Thanksgiving behavior and slapped a two-game suspension on the Lions' star defender.

The Lions are 7-4 and right in the thick of the Wild Card hunt, and while it's a harsh punishment, Suh is a repeat offender and Goodell's suspension is warranted.

Fox's Jay Glazer tweeted that the Lions were informed of the two-game suspension and that Suh would not be paid during his suspension.

CNBC's Darren Rovell points to just how much this suspension is going to take out of his pockets.

Suh has a dirty reputation, and though he tried to justify his Turkey Day stomp, he later apologized for his actions.

It's nice to see Suh being held accountable, but his apologies are a day late and a dollar short. Since smacking him with fines didn't deter him from behavior that compromised the safety of his opponents, Goodell had no choice but to suspend the superstar.

He's one of the faces of the NFL and an incredible young talent. This is the sort of punishment that he needed to ensure he reaches his full potential and refocuses his malicious behavior.

Some will wonder why Dashon Goldson can punch Early Doucet in the face and not get suspended, but it's Suh's track record that makes this punishment not only fair, but necessary.

Suh's behavior is now having a direct impact on his team, and he'll benefit from sitting at home. This mindless act may ultimately cost his team a playoff berth, and Suh only has himself to blame.
