Week 13 Waiver Wire: Scouting Roy Helu and the Best Available Players
There may be a few waiver wire additions that come from Monday night's game between the New Orleans Saints and New York Giants, but the following players are the guys who put their name on the waiver wire candidacy list for Week 13:
RB Roy Helu, Redskins: Mike Shanahan finally let Helu loose on Sunday in Seattle, and the rookie back responded with 108 yards rushing and a score, plus another 54 receiving. If that doesn't get him the start and touches against the Jets next week, I don't know what will.
RB Donald Brown, Colts: Quietly, Brown has been one of the few bright spots during a dark season for the Indianapolis Colts. Against the Panthers poor run defense on Sunday, Brown rushed for 80 yards and a touchdown. Even with Joseph Addai getting healthy, Brown is worth a look.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
RB Maurice Morris, Lions: Kevin Smith left the Lions' Thanksgiving Day loss to the Packers on a cart, so it's safe to say he'll miss Detroit's Week 13 game in New Orleans. Unless Jahvid Best makes a recovery, the Lions' backfield should again be Morris'. He had 120 total yards against the Packers in relief of Smith.
RB Toby Gerhart, Vikings: The numbers weren't pretty for Gerhart (17 rushes for 44 yards), but he did score a second half touchdown and later got a goal-line carry on fourth down. I wouldn't expect the 2-9 Vikings to rush Adrian Peterson back, so Gerhart should get another start next week against the Broncos.
WR Johnny Knox, Bears: Could losing Jay Cutler actually be a good thing for Knox? He certainly showed some chemistry with second-string quarterback Caleb Hanie on Sunday, as Knox caught four passes for 145 yards and a score. Those numbers are far and away the best for Knox in 2011.
WR James Jones, Packers: Any Packers receiver without the last name Jennings or Nelson is a risk, but Jones has had a couple of big games during the course of 2011 that might make you take a second look. In the Packers' explosive offense, Jones might be worth the risk down the stretch depending on the matchup.
WR Harry Douglas, Falcons: I was skeptical on adding Douglas in recent weeks, especially with Julio Jones coming back into the lineup. But even as the slot receiver in the Falcons offense, Douglas is producing. After catching 12 passes for 184 yards in the two weeks prior, Douglas caught his first touchdown of the season on Sunday against the Vikings.
