WWE News: 10 Questions Roddy Piper Should Ask John Cena During RAW's Piper's Pit
With several hours left until the next WWE RAW, the opening segment for RAW has already been revealed as "Rowdy" Roddy Piper will return to question John Cena on his iconic Piper's Pit talk show.
With the Rock now out of the television and pay-per-view picture for the foreseeable future, the WWE needs something to keep people buzzing about their future main-event matchup with WrestleMania still months away.
Piper will be the perfect instigator for the ongoing war of words between Cena and Rocky, with his no-holds-barred approach to journalism.
There are a series of questions that still need to be answered, if for nothing else but promotional purposes, to keep all issues related to John Cena as interesting as possible until The Rock makes yet another triumphant return.
1. Why Haven't You Shown More Anger Towards The Rock's Antics as of Late?
1 of 10John Cena has taken an "aw shucks" approach in his attitude towards the Rock.
First, there was his awkward body language throughout that terrible segment with Mick Foley on the go-home RAW for Survivor Series, then Cena continued to laugh off the Rock's belittling of him following their tag team match at Survivor Series right up until he was Rock Bottomed.
Cena needs to get serious as it pertains to matters related to the Rock, especially to add intrigue to the build-up.
2. Can the New John Cena Beat the Rock?
2 of 10Last year, we saw John Cena reprise his rapper gimmick for a couple of nights to respond to the Rock.
This was as entertaining as Cena has been in a while, and in many people's eyes, he got the better of the Rock while free-styling his discontent for the People's Champion.
The new John Cena may be too TV-PG to hang with the Rock on the mic or in the ring. Perhaps if some of the ruthless thug is sprinkled into Cena's character going forward, it could help the cause.
3. Does It Bother You That the Rock Is a Bigger Star Than You Will Ever Be?
3 of 10Here's where the instigator Piper really gets turned on. The question, while somewhat biased, is justified.
Upon each Rocky return, the ratings, buyrates, and revenues are higher than they would have been had Cena been the lone poster boy, and in Hollywood, the Rock has achieved borderline A-list status while Cena is featured in The Reunion.
It's important that the element of jealousy be played up in the Cena-Rock feud to add tension to an already heated rivalry.
4. Who Cares More About the WWE? You or the Rock?
4 of 10The Rock has spoken volumes in his absences from the WWE, especially following his infamous statement that he will "never leave the WWE again."
John Cena has been among the many critics of the Rock for his hit-and-run appearances since returning earlier this year.
Piper should be sure to touch upon Cena's storyline bitterness towards the Rock and his controversial absenteeism in the WWE.
5. Why Do You Think Vince McMahon Reached out to the Rock to Return?
5 of 10Fair or not, John Cena is the face of lean times in the WWE. He is the lone megastar currently on the WWE roster, and is still far from a household name.
The Rock was on top of the WWE during the company's most successful boom period, and they are still feeling the effects of his departure years ago.
With no transcendent top stars in sight, Vince McMahon has obviously reached out to the Rock to appear at WrestleMania for two years in a row as a panic move in response to the WWE's failed efforts of creating new stars.
It would be interesting to see Cena squirm in responding to this one.
6. Why Do So Many People Hate John Cena?
6 of 10John Cena has never shied away from admitting that he has his share of detractors, but he has never really directly addressed his critics and why they hate him so.
Piper should incite an anti-Cena environment prior to asking this question, and the answer could be at the heart of the storytelling for Cena vs. Rocky.
It is obvious that the older fans dislike Cena's cookie-cutter promos as the clean-cut babyface of the WWE. But Cena needs to directly address this disdain in order to add more depth to the build-up of his match against the Rock.
7. Do You Hate the Rock?
7 of 10Cena would obviously dodge this question and give a political response related to his new "Rise Above Hate" campaign but it's an interesting question nonetheless.
Cena can exchange the word "hate" for "strongly dislike," as the line of questioning becomes more tense.
8. Is This the Most Important Match of Your Career?
8 of 10John Cena and the Rock is definitely among the most anticipated matches in WrestleMania history.
The match will figure to break box-office records for WrestleMania XXVIII including buyrates. This means all eyes will be on Cena when he takes center stage opposite the Rock in Miami in less than five months.
The question will make the WrestleMania matchup seem even bigger, especially if Cena answers it correctly.
9. Who Is Phonier? John Cena or the Rock?
9 of 10During his feud with John Cena earlier this year, CM Punk touched upon the topic of phonies, implicating both John Cena and the Rock.
Roddy Piper should follow suit, as both Cena and the Rock have been criticized for perceived phoniness.
John Cena needs to stand trial for his own phoniness, while taking a shot or two at the Rock for some clear signs of duplicity in his own right.
10. Why Should I Believe That You Can Beat the Rock in a One-on-One Contest?
10 of 10The Rock returned to the ring at Survivor Series and it was like he never left. There was virtually no ring rust on the People's Champion, as he looked good both physically and athletically.
With the sneak peak that the WWE Universe saw of the Rock this past week, it's safe to say that Cena has his work cut out for him.
Long story short, Cena needs to remind the WWE Universe, now more than ever, why John Cena is better than the Rock.
