BCS Rankings Week 14: Oklahoma State Doesn't Deserve No. 3 Ranking
It pains me to say it, but the Oklahoma State Cowboys do not deserve the No. 3 spot in the BCS rankings.
This is coming from a guy who has watched the Cowboys for a majority of the season with an unbiased eye.
Simply put, I don't care what happens to them, nor do I have any emotional stock in the Big 12 or national title scene.
This is also coming from a guy who has been rooting for Oklahoma State and was hoping they'd get a shot at the BCS national championship.
I watched the Cowboys leap out to a thrilling 10-0 start behind the arm of quarterback Brandon Weeden and the amazing wide receiver play of Justin Blackmon.
Not only were they the most intriguing team in the BCS in my opinion, but they were the one team that looked to have the offensive firepower capable of taking on a powerhouse like LSU or Alabama.
Everything seemed lined up for a season of epic proportions for the Cowboys, but then it all fell apart at the hands of the Iowa State Cyclones.
All the Cowboys had to do was go Iowa State and beat a 5-4 Cyclones team that literally had no business being on the same field as them.
Instead they dropped the game in double-overtime 31-27, and any hope of the national championship was lost.
Instead of talking about their matchup with Oklahoma being the final hurdle in a national championship run, they've opened themselves up to criticisms and second guessing.
A team that lost to an unranked Iowa State team doesn't deserve to be ranked No. 3 in the nation, especially with deserving Stanford, Virginia Tech and undefeated Houston teams behind them.
Oklahoma State is an extremely talented team that should go on to a great bowl game, but this will always be known as the season that got away from them.
They may be ranked No. 3, but I have to question whether they deserve it.
