BCS Rankings 2011: The Most Underestimated BCS Top 25 Teams

We are down to the final weekend of the regular season for the college football season. Several championships will be decided and a few BCS Bowls will also be finalized, but there are still a few teams that are underestimated.

Just because you are not playing in a BCS Bowl does not mean you weren't deserving of one or playing like a top 10 team.

Wisconsin Badgers

Previous BCS Ranking: No. 16

Maybe the BCS computers will have them higher than 24th? Montee Ball is going bonkers in the Big Ten, and Russell Wilson never turns it over. The defense just has to come up with a few stops per game and the team is going to come out on top.

If the Badgers can seek their revenge against the Spartans at Lucas Oil Stadium, then lovely Pasadena will soon be calling.

Virginia Tech Hokies

Previous BCS Ranking: No. 5

Many questioned if Virginia Tech deserved to even be in the top 10, and yet here they are coming off a 38-0 beatdown over Virginia.

They are one of the hotter teams out there thanks to improved play by quarterback Logan Thomas, and running back David Wilson is perhaps a darkhorse for a Heisman invite if he can go off in the ACC Championship. 

Virginia Tech will be a lock to play in the Orange Bowl if they can exact revenge on their lone loss of the season to the Clemson Tigers, who are reeling after having been blown out two games in a row.

Georgia Bulldogs

Previous BCS Ranking: No. 13

Lee Corso and Kirk Herbstreit did not feel the Bulldogs wanted to beat Georgia Tech that badly with the SEC Championship awaiting, yet they took care of business winning by two touchdowns.

They had a three touchdown late in the game when they seemingly called off the dogs (no pun intended), but the Bulldogs defense has been impressive this season. They did allow 243 yards on the ground against a solid attack led by Tevin Washington, but UGA did enough.

They will need to take it up one more notch against the top ranked LSU Tigers, but playing in the Atlanta Georgia Dome will help a bit. UGA should be nearly double digit underdogs, but that does not hide the fact that Georgia could beat any team on the planet right now outside of Alabama and LSU.

South Carolina did beat them back in September, but maybe the pollsters have forgotten that UGA has won 10 in a row. It should not matter if you have the MAC's or WAC's schedule, winning 10 in a row is not easy. 

Florida State Seminoles

Previous BCS Ranking: UR

Maybe if the offense could be a tad more productive they would not have four losses, but this former preseason top-five team has been playing like such on defense. 

They are ferocious against the run and have a solid secondary when healthy, but even the special teams is explosive.

Dustin Hoplins shockingly has missed his last two field goals, but he is still 20-for-22, and punter Shaun Powell is among the best in the game despite not being among the three finalists for the Ray Guy Award.

They threw all of their eggs into one basket against the Sooners, but they could beat several teams ranked from 15-25. They will likely crack the top 25 of the BCS after dismantling the Gators in the Swamp, 21-7.

Baylor Bears

Previous BCS Ranking: No. 18

Robert Griffin III is a superstar, but the rest of his team is not nearly as bad as most think. They have a huge home game against the Longhorns that could propel them into the Insight Bowl, but this team is deserving of their top 20 ranking.

They just torched the Sooners a week ago and threw up nearly 100 points against Texas Tech without RGIII for the entire second half.

Another victory over Texas and these Bears could remain in the rankings, as a top 15 finish could be a legit possibility.
