BCS Bowl Projections: Alabama vs. LSU Is Only Logical Choice for BCS Title Game

Kyle VassaloNov 27, 2011

Regardless of what happens in the SEC Championship, an LSU vs. Alabama rematch is the only logical matchup for the BCS Title Game.

The Tigers have run the table, racking up double-digit victories over all of their opponents except Alabama.

Alabama forced LSU into overtime in a game that could have gone either way. The narrow loss cost them a spot in the SEC Championship and some believe it should be enough to knock them out of the BCS Title Game entirely.

With no undefeated teams aside from Alabama being in the National Championship hunt, we've got to decide who is the best one-loss team in the country.

Alabama is unbeaten in regulation and lost in overtime to the best team in the country. They have wins over Arkansas and Auburn and have the No. 1 defense in the nation, allowing 8.8 PPG.

Who has a resume more impressive than that?

Oklahoma State took down an impressive group of Big 12 opponents. If they beat Oklahoma, some will suggest they belong in the championship over Alabama.

It's absurd. Oklahoma State had their shot and they blew it, losing to Iowa State. No victory is impressive enough to overshadow that loss.

In Stanford's two biggest games, they were forced into triple overtime by USC and were blown away by Oregon. Does a big win over four-loss Notre Dame make them the second-best team in the nation?

Many people don't want to see the rematch, but there is no way to justify a late Alabama slip in the rankings.
