Urban Meyer Ohio State: Meyer is Perfect Choice for Job in Columbus
The Ohio State Buckeyes had a very poor season this year, and the only man who can turn things around is former Florida Gators head coach Urban Meyer.
Colin Cowherd of ESPN was tipped that Meyer may be headed to Columbus on Friday. Cowherd then relayed that information via Twitter.
All signs point to Meyer taking over at Ohio State. Interim head coach Luke Fickell did what he could amongst NCAA allegations, yet his 6-6 record is probably not good enough for him to remain in Columbus. What's worse for Fickell is that he lost "The Game" against Michigan.
The Buckeyes had a very disappointing year indeed, and winning a small bowl game will be no consolation for this once-elite program.
The only way to ease the pain of Buckeyes fans is to hire Urban Meyer. This may be one of the worst-kept secrets in sports history, and if rumors and speculation prove true, Ohio State is about to become elite once again.
Meyer is an excellent coach who knows how to get the most from his players. He can coach individuals or an entire team, and this ability allows him to work with every aspect of his team.
Apart from coaching, Meyer is one of the best recruiters in history. Coaches even thought Meyer wasn't following rules because he did so well, but all allegations were untrue.
Bringing in seven of the top 10 defensive recruits and five in the top five—to go along with offensive playmakers and protection for them—made other coaches suspicious of his recruiting tactics. Yet Meyer did it all without breaking a single rule.
Meyer has the ability to turn this program around, bringing them back to the glory they once had. If any coach out there can bring this team back to a BCS Bowl, atop the Big Ten and to a victory against Michigan, it's Meyer.
Ohio State knows it must secure Meyer, and we may hear the official announcement as early as Monday.
