Week 12 Start 'Em, Sit 'Em: Vince Young and More Must-Sit QBs

Thad NovakNov 26, 2011

Getting behind the wrong QB is a great way to sink your fantasy team in any given week. This trio will make fantasy owners regret starting them on Sunday.

Vince Young, Philadelphia Eagles

Vince Young may have gotten the win in his first start as an Eagle, but he certainly didn’t look like an ideal fantasy option after throwing three interceptions against a middling Giants secondary.

Even with a softer matchup this week against the vulnerable New England pass defense, Young will unlikely be able to put up big numbers for fantasy owners.

Star WR Jeremy Maclin is unlikely to play in tomorrow’s game, leaving an already thin Eagles receiving corps even thinner. Philadelphia is likely to reprise last week’s LeSean McCoy-heavy game plan and Young will again put up subpar numbers in the passing game.

Matt Leinart, Houston Texans

Setting aside the question of whether Matt Leinart will ever be a legitimate NFL starter, this is not the week to take a chance on him. Leinart makes his Texans regular season debut against the NFL’s fourth-best pass defense in a road meeting with Jacksonville.

The Jaguars did take a hit with the loss of stud cornerback Rashean Mathis, but even without him, they’ll still be a challenging team to throw on.

With Texans WR Andre Johnson still looking limited by his hamstring injury (even if he does return as planned), the Texans are likely to lean on Arian Foster and the ground game, to the detriment of Leinart’s fantasy value.

Andy Dalton, Cincinnati Bengals

A borderline starter even under ideal circumstances, Andy Dalton is a particularly bad risk this Sunday. Cleveland’s unimpressive 4-6 record belies a pass defense that’s allowed the fewest yards in the NFL this season.

Of course, part of the reason teams aren’t throwing on the Browns is that it’s so easy to rack up yards on the ground against the NFL’s 29th-ranked run defense. Look for Cedric Benson to carry the Cincinnati offense, with Dalton playing a small part at best in Week 12.
