Iron Bowl 2011: Auburn vs. Alabama Will Come Down to the Wire
From what I have gathered from reading stories and predictions online is this: Auburn has little-to-no shot of beating Alabama in the Iron Bowl.
I think that Alabama will come out victorious, but it’s going to be closer than people believe. It’s going to come down to the wire.
Auburn is coming off winning the national championship. Cam Newton isn’t their quarterback—we have seen just how much he meant to his club now that he’s showcasing his talents in the NFL—and there are several other people gone but Auburn, for the most part, has been able to be competitive.
The Tigers have been awful on the road, but they are undefeated at home this season. They will come out in front of their home crowd and give it their 100 percent effort.
Alabama’s defense had a leak last weekend against Georgia Southern by giving up 21 points. The Crimson Tide didn’t allow 21 points until Week 4. Was that just a one-time crack or is there more water to flow?
The Crimson Tide’s defense is the best in the country, but it does show you that they are human. Auburn may be able to hit a few “splash” plays to open the game up.
But the biggest reason why I think this is game will be closer than people believe is because of this being like the Eagles national championship game. They have a chance to knock off their in-state rival, causing them to miss the BCS National Championship game. You better believe they will show up giving it 100 percent.
In the end, Alabama will prove too much for Auburn. Running back Trent Richardson will put on a Heisman-worthy performance catapulting him to the top of everyone’s board.
Prediction: Alabama 21 Auburn 13
