Carolina Panthers vs. Indianapolis Colts: Spread Info, Line and Predictions

Michael DixonNov 26, 2011

On Sunday, the 2-8 Carolina Panthers will take a trip north to take on the 0-10 Indianapolis Colts

The two teams last met in 2007 in Carolina. The Colts won that game 31-7, although that was a much different team.

The Colts have the worst record in the NFL by two games. It's quite likely that this game will match up the last team to have the No. 1 pick against the next team to have that pick.

Spread

Panthers (-4), according to Bodog

While neither of these teams is very good, the Panthers are clearly the better team. A four-point spread on the road sounds big, but I like them in a dome.

Over/Under

46.5, according to Bodog

I like the over here. While I am not predicting it, I wouldn't be at all shocked if the Panthers hit this number on their own. They have a strong offense and the Colts defense is just inept.

On the other side of the ball, the Panthers can't do anything to defend the run. Between Joseph Addai, Delone Carter and Donald Brown, I am sure that the Colts can score enough points to pick up whatever slack is left by the Panthers.

Key Injuries

Panthers LB Omar Gaither is doubtful

Panthers WR Legedu Naanee, and LB Jason Phillips are questionable

Panthers LB James Anderson, LB Dan Connor, and DE Charles Johnson are probable

Colts TE Dallas Clark, TE Brody Eldridge, QB Peyton Manning and T Joe Reitz are out

Colts RB Joseph Addai, DE Jamaal Anderson, DB Stevie Brown, DB Terrence Johnson, DT Drake Nevis and WR Blair White are questionable

Fantasy Big Plays

Panthers QB Cam Newton, WR Steve Smith, and TE Greg Olsen are must-starts

Colts RB Donald Brown is a must-start as the Panthers run defense is non-existent

Keys to Panthers Win

As long as Cam Newton doesn't get interception-happy, the Panthers will win. Newton is a fantastic player, but he is still a little raw.

Keys to Colts Win

Run the ball. Curtis Painter shouldn't try more than about 15 passes, if that. If he does, something has gone terribly wrong.

Prediction: Panthers 34, Colts 21

Carolina is just a better team. While they are on the road, their team setup makes them well built for domes.

Their defense will allow the Colts to stay in the game for a while, but the Panthers will prevail.
