Bowl Projections: Why BCS Will Screw Boise State and Stick Them vs. Houston
The screw job is coming. Boise State is about to get screwed by the BCS once again. We have seen them left out of title games, pushed to play TCU on multiple occasions and even Utah last season.
We’re about to see it happen all over again in the form of the Houston Cougars.
As an avid fan of college football I support the little guys in the sport. Teams like Boise State, Houston, TCU and BYU are teams that I openly root for against the big guys. But what I can’t stand is when the BCS matches them up with other little guys.
Occasionally you will get to see a team like Utah (not this season because of the Pac-12) face an Alabama, or a Boise State face Oklahoma. Both of those games were won by the underdog.
I don’t know if I’m in the minority, but I love watching the underdog go up against a giant. I love David vs. Goliath. It’s intriguing.
We won’t see that come to fruition if the BCS screws Boise State again. Houston and Boise State need to play the top dogs.
I want to see Boise State or Houston get a chance against Arkansas, Oklahoma State, Virginia Tech or Oregon.
Hopeful Predictions
How great would it be if it was Oregon vs. Houston? I believe that the Ducks would put up about 60 points, but Houston would put up their fair share. Over/under 105 points in that game? Oregon would probably beat them by double figures, but it would be fun to watch.
How about Boise State vs. Arkansas? That would be an interesting game. Boise State already defeated the SEC East leader Georgia. Arkansas' two losses came against Alabama and LSU. I think the Broncos would have a great chance of pulling off the upset.
Probable Outcome
Houston and Boise State play each other. It would be a good game, but it would infuriate me. I hope it would infuriate you, too.
You never know when dealing with computers, but you just get the feeling that it will happen again. I hope it doesn’t.
