Iron Bowl 2011: Whose Future Is Brighter, AJ McCarron or Kiehl Frazier?
Attracting talented players has never been a great problem for the two historic rivals Auburn and Alabama. Their respective rosters are littered with athletes who make big plays and shine on game days.
But I want to look at what some would say is the most important position on the field: quarterback.
The two teams have two great players on the roster at quarterback—sophomore AJ McCarron for the Crimson Tide and freshman Kiehl Frazier for the Tigers.
For those in the state of Alabama, the question is: Which of these two young quarterbacks will have the brighter future and lead their team to success in the gauntlet that is the SEC West?
McCarron has the jump start on Frazier already; he has a full season under his belt with Alabama and will likely finish with only one loss—to the eventual national champion LSU.
Frazier has played in limited action this season for Auburn. He has only completed two of his five pass attempts for 34 yards, in addition to 244 yards rushing and a touchdown in 2011.
The one thing that both quarterbacks have in their favor is the great deal of recruiting talent that joins each team in the offseason. For the 2012 season, the Crimson Tide and the Tigers will reload with new talent. Both teams are ranked in the Top 10 of recruiting classes—at No. 5 and No. 8, respectively.
As these two quarterbacks get ready to battle in the SEC’s greatest rivalry, the Tide’s quarterback McCarron will have the edge. Compared to the Tiger's Frazier, he is the QB with the better collegiate career.
Do you believe McCarron has the brighter future? Will Frazier come from nowhere and help Auburn dominate Alabama, as in the past decade of their rivalry?
Let me know in the comments section of who will have the better career.
