The Question No One Is Asking: Is WWE Wrestling in Brock Lesnar's Best Interest?

The Doctor Chris MuellerNov 25, 2011

With WWE '12 including Brock Lesnar as a playable character, interest has been sparked again as to whether Brock Lesnar will ever return to a WWE ring.

Brock was a special case when it comes to pro wrestling. He rose to the top faster than anyone in recent memory and stayed there until he made his exit from the company.

He faced off against the top guys in the company like The Rock, Kurt Angle and The Undertaker and held his own with every one.

Now Brock Lesnar is an established MMA fighter who is arguably the most controversial name in the business, due to his quick rise to the top before having any real experience.

The IWC always likes to speculate on Brock Lesnar and if he will return, and with the recent return of the Rock for a few matches, the possibility looks better than ever.

The Rock said many times he was done in the ring, but over the years he has softened on the wrestling business again and went from distancing himself from WWE to embracing it all over again.

With this kind of "hell freezing over" scenario, it now looks like people are willing to believe anything is possible, and in the world of wrestling, they are often right.

But one thing that seems to never be addressed is whether or not wrestling would be in the best interest of Brock Lesnar.

Not only is the business a little different from when he was around, but he is not the same person he was 10 years ago health-wise.

His bout with diverticulitis which nearly killed him is something he cannot ignore, especially since he had more problems after his initial issues.

This could prevent him from ever being able to be on the road full time, or even just a limited schedule like what Shawn Michaels had, where it is mostly TV tapings and PPV events.

With these health issues it also calls into question whether or not he could be a wrestler without having the same substance problems he faced while in WWE.

He made it very clear in an interview he gave with ESPN that after leaving WWE that he had at one point become addicted to alcohol and pain killers to deal with the hectic schedule and bodily injuries.

There is no question that Lesnar is a very engaging personality, and I did enjoy his time in the ring, but I feel like a return to wrestling for any more than a match or two would be a bad move for the former champion.

He is now a family man with two children of his own and a stepchild with his wife, so a wrestling schedule would take away from his time with them, which I am sure he values.

Even with the possibility of more money, I think the toll it would take on his body is enough to keep him out of the ring. We know Dana White will never let him do both and leaving MMA does not seem like it would suit the big man.

Despite being a fan of Lesnar's wrestling and UFC career, I think a return to the ring is not only extremely unlikely, but also a bad idea for Lesnar in more than one way.

What do you think, would a return to wrestling be in the best interest of Brock Lesnar?
