WWE: Why Mark Henry's World Title Run Was Hurt at Survivor Series

David LevinNov 28, 2011

How does a 400-pound man gain anything in his title run by being hurt at the hands of the Big Show?

In the match of giants at Survivor Series, Mark Henry was "injured," and therefore, the title run he's in the process of was derailed.

My questions are, how can this be good for Henry and what's the WWE trying to accomplish?

Henry is the best heel to come through the WWE JBL. There's no gray matter with him. Fans hate his character which makes him that much more appealing because whether they admit it or not, fans love heels.

Hear that, Justin Watry?

Henry's run as a heel was curtailed by the "injury" and leads me to speculate something crucial is about to happen that involves Henry, Big Show and Kane. There are no other forces of nature within the WWE that would present this kind of about face other than Undertaker and believe me, 'Taker is not facing Henry anytime soon.

Henry was the steam engine that continued to move through the pack of other little trains. He took out Kane. He took out Big Show. He defeated Randy Orton with ease and has taken Sheamus' best shot and still stood tall.

An "injury" just means WWE creative wants to throw a curveball at something good. Instead, they're trying to ruin what has become the norm of the WWE society. They build something up and then pull a Pepperment Patty and take their ball away and go home.

The fans don't like it, and it certainly cannot bode well in the locker room with the wrestlers on a nightly basis.

If the creative powers truly want to build on Henry's success, have him hold the strap through WrestleMania. Have him go through the competition, and then, when we least expect it, have him face an unknown.

Leave us with the suspense. Could we see someone come in and surprise us by challenging Henry? Daniel Bryan doesn't thrill us as a champion. The Big Show doesn't thrill us as champion. Kane may get some heat and could be a great champion. But until then, Henry is the mark. Sheamus should be his opponent, and Wade Barrett should be the next in line.

Until then, the "injury" is just a bad break for what the WWE was trying to accomplish and now has failed at.
