NFL's Stock Up, Stock Down Week 13: Whose Value Is Plummeting After Week 12?
Players and teams have a way of living each week like they are puppets in the NFL. One week they are hot, the other colder than a Buffalo snow storm.
The fact is while many NFL players had their stock rise this week (Beanie Wells, Chris Johnson, Vince Young) others were just as successful at falling flat during important games in Week 12.
These teams/players played the NFL stock market this week and lost.
San Diego Chargers Offense
1 of 14Where did all the fire power go?
This used to be a team that scored in bunches. Now, the team has lost six straight games.
Do they miss LaDanian Tomlinson that much?
Philip Rivers has a plethora of weapons to work with and he cannot hit the backside of a barn.
Norv Turner is on borrowed time.
Cleveland Browns
2 of 14Browns beat the Jaguars in a tight game last week 14-10.
They got to 4-6 on the season and looked like they could play their type of defense and possibly sneak a win against their in state rivals.
That would have put them on the outside edge of the playoff picture.
But these are the Browns. You know what happens.
Andy Reid, Philadelphia Eagles
3 of 14If the fans are chanting for Reid to be fired, you know it is a bad time in the Keystone State.
It is only a matter of time before the pink slips go out at the end of the season.
Reid should be getting one.
Raheem Morris, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
4 of 14He is a young coach with a young team trying to be teams with veteran-laden players.
The Buccaneers are riding a five-game losing streak.
What in the name of Kevin House is going on in Tampa Bay?
Who knows, but the Pirate Ship needs to righted and fast.
Stevie Johnson, Buffalo Bills
5 of 14Stevie Johnson has been one of the best stories in the NFL the last two years as the go-to guy for the Bills receiving corps.
Sunday, he just showed his ass.
Johnson's mocking of Plaxico Burress shooting himself was one of the worst displays of sportsmanship in all of sports, let along football.
He should be fined for this. No player deserves that kind of disrespect.
Minnesota Vikings
6 of 14They found another way to lose again this week.
Granted the team was without Adrian Peterson, but Percy Harvin did his best to fill in for Peterson in the excitement department.
Christian Ponder was a good game manager and the team still lost.
The Vikings dropped to 2-9 this season.
Houston Texans Quarterback Situation
7 of 14They already had Matt Schaub on IR. Matt Leinart can now be added to that list.
Leinart was tackled by Jeremy Mincey and broke his collar bone, thus ending his season.
The Texans are 8-3 on the season, but how confident are they that TJ Yates will be leading this team the rest of the season?
Miami Dolphins
8 of 14Just when you thought it was safe in South Beach.
The Dolphins had won three straight. And then they decided to visit Pittsburgh on Thanksgiving.
A field goal by Dan Bailey on the last play of the game gave Miami its first loss after three straight wins.
Tavares Jackson, Seattle
9 of 14This is an every week occurrance.
The Seattle quarterbacking situation is AWFUL.
They need a change and some form of excitement.
Neither Jackson, who lost to Washington Sunday, or Charlie Whitehurst, is the answer.
Marcedes Lewis, Jacksonville Jaguars
10 of 14I have had it with Lewis.
He caught seven passes last week and I thought he might have found his rhythm.
I was wrong.
Lewis dropped a sure touchdown and several passes against the Texans.
He, not Blaine Gabbert, was the difference in the game and the 20-13 Jaguars loss.
Troy Polamalu
11 of 14He seems to be getting injured more and more these days.
A few weeks ago, he took a thump to the head against Jacksonville.
Now, he takes a thump to the head against the Chiefs.
Injuries like that if they are sustained can end a career.
Jim Schwartz, Detriot Lions
12 of 14While everyone is ganging up on Ndomukong Suh and rightfully so, shouldn't the Lions coaching staff take some blame for this media relations nightmare?
The head coach is the one who is held accountable for all players, coaches and the franchise. When Suh "abused" his opponent and showed no contrition, the coaching staff should have done more to shut him up.
They did not and it snowballed.
And everything lands at the feet of the head coach.
Michael Vick, Philadelphia Eagles
13 of 14He did not play this week. I know he is injured. But when your backup throws for 400 yards even if it is in a losing cause, isn't there even the slightest whisper that maybe Vince Young is a better option for the Eagles?
This team is in such muddled water that the athletic Young could be the answer to helping this team make changes and possibly earn victories.
Vick may not be the answer right now in Philadelphia.
Brett Favre
14 of 14After the Chiefs loss to the Steelers, there was talk on the post game that Brett Favre may be a candidate for the Texans as a replacement quarterback.
Jason LaCanfora said the Texans are not interested in Favre or the circus that comes along with him.
That is a huge relief.
