Cowboys Cheerleader Delivers Jason Witten Household Status with Epic Collision

Gabe ZaldivarNov 25, 2011

Jason who? Oh, you mean the guy who wrapped up that cheerleader. Yeah, I've heard of him.

In the past couple of days, we have been hit with an abundance of NFL news that has little to do with putting the ball in the end zone.

Around the Thanksgiving table, many of the relatives may have wanted to discuss the Green Bay Packers' perfect record or the fact that two Harbaugh brothers were about to engage in football warfare.

There was also this little juicy tidbit from the Dallas Cowboys and Miami Dolphins game that had us all chuckling and throwing around a name we never thought we would. The man is Jason Witten. He is a great tight end, and now we have all heard of him.

It's hard to crack into the mainstream when you are a tight end. Hell, Tony Gonzalez is barely recognizable to borderline fans and he has been playing for 50 years. Might need a fact check.

Witten found that it is far easier to get your name in headlines and on the tongues of passing football fans if you just take out a cheerleader on the sidelines.

Witten, a 6'6", 265-pound Pro Bowler, caught a pass to start the fourth quarter on Thanksgiving. His momentum took him out of bounds and towards Cowboys cheerleader Melissa Kellerman.

Witten chose to go with the one-armed takedown rather than the full body blow. Why he chose not to hit with his body should be looked into as an illegal hit by the NFL.

Kellerman has a great sense of humor about the whole thing. The Washington Post reports she tweeted, "Not hurtin' today, like some of y'all thought I would be! Our TE isn't as tough as he looks ... That or I'm WAY tougher than I look."

The fact that we now know her name and that Witten is being talked about proves all you need is one moment to become a household name.

Both player and cheerleader are on the clock. Their 15 minutes start now.
