Houston Texans vs. Jacksonville Jaguars: Spread Info, Line and Predictions

Eric BowmanNov 25, 2011

The Houston Texans will learn a lot about their team this Sunday when they hit the road to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars without Matt Schaub.

Matt Leinart takes over, and everyone will be wondering if he can keep the Texans atop the division. Houston had hopes of a Super Bowl run this season, but without Schaub, fans aren't so sure how the season will end.

The Jaguars have been very disappointing this year, but they'll get a great boost of confidence if they can pull the upset.

With that said, let's take a look at some specifics of this AFC South showdown.

When: Sunday, Nov. 27 at 1:00 p.m. ET

Where: EverBank Field, Jacksonville, FL

Watch: CBS

Spread

The Texans are only favored at -4 because they're on the road with a new quarterback. However, they will cover because of their talented run game. Jacksonville isn't a very good team, and Houston will make quick work of the Jaguars this Sunday.

Over/Under

The over/under is set at 37, which is too low for me. Sure, the Jaguars will have a hard time scoring, but the Texans are going to put up points. Leinart isn't going to be terrible, and the one-two punch in the backfield of Arian Foster and Ben Tate will dominate.

Key Injuries

For the Texans, S Danieal Manning (ankle) is questionable, and WR Andre Johnson (hamstring) and TE Owen Daniels (knee) are probable.

For the Jaguars, DE Aaron Kampman (hamstring) and DT Terrance Knighton (ankle) are both listed as questionable.

Fantasy Big Plays

Arian Foster is a must start, as he rushed for over 100 yards the first time these two met. He's very likely to surpass the century mark again and will find the end zone without a doubt.

Matt Leinart is a start only if you're desperate. If he's available in your league, keep an eye on how he does on Sunday, as he could be worth the add for the future.

Nobody on the Jaguars is worth a start, except for Maurice Jones-Drew. However, be cautious with him because the Texans know they can shut him down. It's understandable if you can't afford to bench him because you have nobody else, but if you have options, I'd consider sitting him.

Jones-Drew only had 63 rushing yards the last time these two teams met, but he did score a touchdown. Without that score, it would have been a horrible day for him, and the same could easily happen on Sunday.

Keys to Houston Win

The Texans have to play smart football and eliminate turnovers. Even without Schaub, this is a game they should have no trouble winning.

The ground and pound will be in full force, but on 3rd-and-long, Leinart has to come through. A poor performance by him, and the Jaguars will have a strong chance.

Keys to Jacksonville Win

Again, mistake-free football is key for the Jaguars. Jones-Drew will see a lot of action, meaning the offensive line has to block well for him.

Blaine Gabbert must make smart decisions, or the Texans will make him pay. He threw two interceptions against Houston earlier this year, and it cost his team greatly. Gabbert was a touchdown interception ratio of 6-5, which shouldn't come as a surprise considering this is his rookie year. Still, though, he has to be smart with the ball on Sunday.

Prediction

Texans 28, Jaguars 16
