NFL Week 12 Predictions: Projecting the Week's Most Dominant Fantasy Tight Ends

Zach KruseNov 25, 2011

In Week 12 of the NFL season, the following five tight ends should score the most fantasy points:

Rob Gronkowski, Patriots

Not only does Gronk have five touchdowns over the past three games, but he's also gone over 90 yards receiving in his past four. Those stats say enough. Tom Brady looks for him on any down-and-distance, no matter where the Pats are on the field.

Jimmy Graham, Saints

After a short two-game lull, Graham came back before the Saints bye and caught seven passes for 82 yards and a score. Like Gronkowski, Graham's quarterback looks for him all over the field and especially in the red zone. Also, don't forget: the Giants have been absolutely terrible against tight ends over the past three weeks.

Tony Gonzalez, Falcons

Gonzalez doesn't do as much damage overall anymore, but he's still an effective target in the red zone. If you don' think so, then Matt Ryan certainly disagrees with you. Gonzalez ranks in the top five among tight ends in red zone targets this season. The Vikings defense should present plenty of red zone opportunities, so expect that number to rise on Sunday.

Heath Miller, Steelers

Surprised to see Heath Miller on a list of top tight ends? Maybe you shouldn't be this season. He's been a consistent target for Ben Roethlisberger, and Miller has rewarded him with three or more catches in nine of the team's first 10 games. If Miller could find the end zone more often—he has just two touchdowns—he'd be a regular in the top five.

Antonio Gates, Chargers

It appears for now that Gates's foot injury is behind him. Since sitting out four games, Gates has four or more catches in five straight games with touchdown receptions in three of those contests. The further he gets from the injury the healthier he should be, so don't be afraid to use Gates now like you used to before the problem occurred.
