WWE 12: Create-an-Arena Makes New Video Game WWE's Greatest Digital Venture

Mike ChiariNov 25, 2011

After a couple consecutive futile efforts in the SmackDown vs. RAW video game franchise, the WWE and THQ decided to make a change. That change was a rebranding to WWE 12. Many have labeled it the best wrestling game ever, and I agree due to the Create-an-Arena feature.

WWE 12 has countless new features that set it apart from its predecessors such as predator technology, revamped WWE Universe and Road to WrestleMania modes, and an incredibly comprehensive roster, but Create-an-Arena is something gamers have been asking for for quite some time.

Gameplay is incredibly important, and WWE 12 has certainly made some great strides in that area, but interesting features are what keep people coming back. There is no question that Create-an-Arena is just that as it adds a completely new wrinkle to your gaming experience.

While you can edit things such as the guardrails and announce tables, the biggest drawing point of Create-an-Arena is the ability to completely change the look of the ring. There are tons of logos included to aid in the editing process, including those of superstars and those from past WrestleManias and other iconic WWE events.

Create-an-Arena is simply a mode that appeals to past and present wrestling fans alike. Current fans can emulate the rings of TNA, ROH or other various promotions, or they can even use logos and paint schemes to create their own wrestling company or show.

The fantastic roster of legends is already a drawing point for fans of years past, but Create-an-Arena only serves to enhance that. The feature allows you to create a ring from any era with various WrestleMania, Royal Rumble, Survivor Series and SummerSlam logos.

Many gamers enjoy using classic wrestlers and created superstars in order to pretend like they are playing in a different era. While that was always possible with a little imagination, that notion is now enhanced significantly due to the ability to give the surroundings a decidedly old-school feel.

The versatility of the mode is quite astounding and it certainly gives WWE 12 a leg up on past games. Some outsiders may consider the Create-an-Arena to be an unnecessary frill, but it is something that any wrestling fan will be able to utilize.

Improvements across the board already make WWE 12 a fantastic game that blows SmackDown vs. RAW 2011 out of the water, but the inclusion of Create-an-Arena adds another dimension to the playing experience and makes WWE 12 the WWE's greatest video game ever.
