Arkansas vs. LSU: Tigers Defense Will Overwhelm Razorbacks Offense
It's the Game of the Century, Part 2. Yet LSU-Arkansas isn’t getting the same hype as the LSU vs. Alabama game, even though this one has the same implications.
The reason why it isn’t getting the same hype, is because this Arkansas Razorback team is going to get dominated by this LSU Tigers team when they meet.
Arkansas has a good offense this year. The Razorbacks have picked up exactly right where they left off last year, even after losing quarterback Ryan Mallett to the NFL. Quarterback Tyler Wilson has been a huge reason for Arkansas’ 10-1 record. With his 3,215 passing yards and 21 touchdowns to five interceptions, it has given this Razorbacks team an explosive offense that ranks 13th in the nation in points per game.
However, their lone loss this season came against one of the better defenses in the SEC in the form of the Alabama Crimson Tide.
When the Razorbacks lost on the road in Tuscaloosa, they were pounded by a relentless Crimson Tide pass rush that forced two interceptions and eight punts.
They shut down the Razorbacks passing game, only allowing them to throw for 202 yards. The Razorbacks running attack did nothing to help out the passing game. As the Razorbacks tried rushing the ball 18 times, but were only able to gain 27 yards.
Now that was against the second-best defense in the SEC. This week they go up against the best defense on the road again.
This week against an LSU defense that has shut down every team it has gone up against this year, it will result in another poor showing from this Arkansas offense.
Once again the Razorback defense will see a pass rush like nothing they’ve seen since the Alabama game. And once again both the passing and running game will see little to no production.
For all of you that are hoping for more BCS chaos, you’re going to have to look elsewhere.
Because tomorrow’s game will see another defensive slugfest like the Alabama LSU contest. LSU will use their defense to control the game, while picking their spot to pull ahead of Arkansas.
