49ers vs. Ravens: Jim vs. John Harbaugh Takes Center Stage on Thanksgiving

Alex KayNov 24, 2011

The Harbaugh family is one of the most well known in football and now brothers Jim and John will be facing off against one another in a nationally televised NFL game on Thanksgiving night.

Pretty crazy right?

Both are the sons of Jack Harbaugh, longtime head coach and assistant for a number of college football teams.

Both brothers played football in college and Jim was actually a successful NFL quarterback while John went straight to coaching.

John has been leading the Baltimore Ravens to the playoffs every season since he was hired and always has a competitive squad in the tough AFC North.

They are currently 7-3 and looking primed to make another postseason push this year.

Jim made his NFL head-coaching debut this season and completely turned the San Francisco 49ers around.

They are 9-1 right now and are guaranteed a winning season for the first time since 2002. He has changed the culture of his Bay Area team and has his players believing in his abilities and themselves.

So who is going to win when the brothers face off tonight?

I’m going with Jim and the 49ers.

They have only one loss and prove each and every week against good opponents that they aren’t a fluke team.

Their only loss came to a probable playoff team, the Cowboys, whereas Baltimore has blown games to Tennessee, Jacksonville, Seattle and nearly lost to Arizona.

Those aren’t quality opponents and John needs to make sure his team is more prepared or they are going to just get demolished tonight.

It should be a good chess match between two coaches who know each other like the back of their hands and everyone will benefit from watching.

I expect the 49ers to grind out a win in an extremely close game.
