WWE/TNA: 25 Things to Be Thankful for in Wrestling

David LevinNov 24, 2011

While we all sit down and break bread with family and friends, we are reminded of the great things we are thankful for. Health, happiness and of course, wrestling.

OK, maybe not in that order and certainly not in the top three, but we are thankful for the joys of watching our guilty pleasure. Admit it, you will watch The Rock or The Miz any time they are on television.

But today, being such an important day of giving thanks and being thankful for what we have, let's enjoy the things we are thankful for in the squared circle.

These things make me most happy about the business on this Thanksgiving Day

25. AJ Styles

1 of 25

Is there anyone in the business that has worked as hard as AJ in the past nine years?

Seriously, I am sure there are, but Styles is TNA through and through.

His entire gimmick is tremendous and I am glad it appears he will be in the thick of the title picture now that Bobby Roode is TNA champion.

24. The Bella Twins

2 of 25

Being a twin myself, I appreciate the coolness of having a mirror image.

But these twins are HOT!

23. The Return of Kane

3 of 25

It is coming soon. Mark my words.

Kane is such a great athlete. His return to WWE makes the entire roster better.

Now, will he come back as a face or heel?

22. WrestleMania XXVIII

4 of 25

It will be here sooner than you think.

And if the WWE would just allow things to play out, but move things along, this will be the best ever.

Rock/Cena headlines, but it may not be the best match on the schedule.

Who knows?

21. Brooke Tessmacher

5 of 25

She has gotten better with her ability in the ring.

Oh yeah, and she looks pretty good, too!

But seriously, she showed she can really wrestle while holding the Knockouts Tag Titles with Tara.

You had to be impressed.

20. Hulk Hogan Is Not on Camera

6 of 25

One down, two to go.

Hogan leaving the camera for those who matter was one of the best things to happen to TNA this year.

Now we need to get Ric Flair and Eric Bischoff away from the spotlight as well.

19. The Return of Gail Kim to TNA

7 of 25

This is where she belongs.

And now that the Knockouts Division looks stronger, could others be on their way to Florida?

Only time will tell.

18. John Cena's Makeover

8 of 25

Or at least it looks that way.

He is starting to creep into the unknown for us.

Will he remain a face or finally make the turn like we want him to?

He is the Luke Skywalker of the WWE.

Use the force, Cena.

17. The Vengeance of Samoa Joe

9 of 25

He is TNA's resident bad boy.

Joe just kicks ass in the ring, outside the ring, backstage.

Well, you get the idea.

He is to TNA what Mark Henry is to WWE.

16. The Development of Sheamus

10 of 25

He is big, ivory-skinned and one bad dude.

Sheamus could be the one to take the WWE in to the next decade.

The fact they were able to turn him into a face character that worked is a great stroke of luck.

15. Velvet Sky

11 of 25

Some day, she will be mine.

OK, that is on the Christmas wish list.

14. Cody Rhodes as a Real Title Contender

12 of 25

Oh, I bet this makes daddy proud.

Rhodes' gimmick is old and tiresome on me, but that does not take away from him being a super talent in the ring.

Rhodes will at some point get a title shot for the world title. And when he does, he will capitalize on his abilities that go far beyond his father's.

13. The Return of Mick Foley to the WWE

13 of 25

This is where he truly belongs.

Foley is WWE through and through, and he should be in the middle of the better PPV events.

Foley is to WWE what AJ Styles is to TNA.

12. Eric Young Does Not Hold the Television Title

14 of 25

OK, my head can stop hurting now.

11. James Storm Getting a Push

15 of 25

Finally, Beer Money dissolved and James Storm got a title shot.

Storm has charisma and skill and can back it up in the ring.

Now we wait and see how he handles battling both Bobby Roode and Kurt Angle.

10. Kelly Kelly

16 of 25

No comments needed.

9. Austin Aries

17 of 25

He is stuck (not really stuck) in the X-Division right now on Impact. But I dare say Aries could carry TNA as a world champion.

He is great on the mic, arrogant as hell and has pretty good skills in the ring. A young Ric Flair? Not as good.

And he sells better than anyone in the company.

8. The Formation of Stables Again

18 of 25

It looks like someone figured it out.

Vickie Guerrero leads Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger.

Christian has formed a foundation of a coalition.

In TNA, there is Immortal and what was Fortune, and now it looks like Karen Jarrett is doing the same thing.

Holy toledo, Batman!

7. The Rage of Mark Henry

19 of 25

He has been with the company for 13 years and in that time, Mark Henry did some really stupid gimmicks.

It all paid off.

Henry is the best true heel in the business since JBL. And his Hall of Pain angle is great.

6. Crimson and Matt Morgan

20 of 25

As singles competitors, they are pretty good.

As tag-team champions, they form a great team.

They are "Road Warrior-esque" in their appearance, with size and speed.

Never have we seen a team this big and this good so fast.

If TNA does this correctly, this will work really well.

5. The Miz and R-Truth

21 of 25

These two guys came together to form arguably the best tag team duo of the year.

Great wrestlers with great mic skills and of course, the "conspiracy" angle.

These guys could be great as singles stars again, and the idea of a feud forthcoming could be epic.

4. Rumors About Returning Stars

22 of 25

Lita, Jericho, Batista, Michelle McCool.

It never ends. What this does is give us hope and makes us want to watch every week to see if it happens.

And when it does, we all hope there will be magic again.

3. Bobby Roode Wins TNA World Title

23 of 25

No matter how he got to the top, at least he go to the top.

Roode could be the best at what he does and he does is work better as a heel.

But the way TNA went about it was a little off kilter, and the PPV events leading up to it meant nothing.

2. Vince McMahon's Retirement

24 of 25

He needed a break. We needed a break from him.

It worked out well. But we need more of his "ballsy" attitude on camera.

That is what is missing in WWE now.

1. CM Punk's Shoot

25 of 25

It changed the course of wrestling this year. Not since the nWo invaded WCW has there been that much buzz in the industry.

It was great for wrestling. I just wish the WWE had capitalized on it more.
