NFL Week 12 Picks: Looking at Teams Guaranteed To Turn Things Around

John RozumNov 23, 2011

Even though we're nearing the final stretch of the NFL season, it's never too late for a turnaround. Even if a team misses the postseason, playing well late in the season can lead to momentum for the following year.

That being said, here are three teams who turn it around in Week 12.

Cincinnati Bengals (vs. Cleveland)

Cincinnati may be on a two-game losing streak, but those losses came to Pittsburgh and Baltimore, so you can't fault them, especially since they're such a young team.

Nonetheless, the Bengals are still alive for the playoffs. With an impressive defense to go with a methodical offense, not all hope is lost. And with the Browns coming into town this week, a win is needed for multiple reasons.

Expect Cincy to get the W thanks to a defense that suffocates the Browns offense, as well as a ground game that vehemently exploits Cleveland's terrible front seven.

Tennessee Titans (vs. Tampa Bay)

Despite having a really inconsistent season, the Tennessee Titans have solid wins over Baltimore and Denver. Their opponent this week, Tampa Bay, unfortunately has no idea how to win road games and play defense.

The Bucs have arguably the worst defense in the NFL and although the Titans aren't all that impressive offensively, they can still move the ball against inferior defenses. So if there's a game in which RB Chris Johnson might be somewhat vindicated, this is that game.

Not to mention that it's a good opportunity for the Titans to really enhance their playoff chances now that Houston appears to be on the fritz.

New York Jets (vs. Buffalo)

There's a very slim chance for the Jets to make the postseason, especially since they don't have the tiebreaker over the Raiders or Broncos.

But the Jets are the team responsible for Buffalo's current slide—and that remains true in Week 12.

The Bills have just simply lost confidence and have some injuries which will plague them against New York. The Jets, on the other hand, need a win not only to stay alive for the playoffs, but also to regain some of their own confidence.

Since they still have a solid pass defense that will shut down Buffalo, the Jets will control the game much like last time. They can't turn the ball over (which the Bills defense thrives on) because Buffalo's offense still has the potential to be explosive.

It's a repeat performance from a few weeks ago—the Jets get a much-needed divisional victory.
