Bowl Projections: Which Teams Will Be Locked into the BCS with a Win?

Johnathan CaceNov 26, 2011

With only two weeks left of college football action before the final BCS Rankings come out, teams are scrambling to get a signature win that puts them into the Rose, Fiesta, Sugar or Orange Bowls.

Thanksgiving weekend is rivalry week for many teams across the country and that means a lot of highly ranked teams are facing off against each other with conference and national title spots on the line.

Some teams are going to use this weekend to use that opportunity pick up that signature win and here are some of them.

Alabama

1 of 3

If you don’t want a rematch in the national title game, you better be hoping that Alabama loses this weekend to Auburn.

The odds of it happening are small, though, and a win here would assure that the Tide are at least second in the BCS regardless of what else happens in Week 13. That will get them into at least the Sugar Bowl but more likely the National Championship.

Stanford

2 of 3

The Cardinal is a voter favorite and assuming Oregon doesn’t lose to Oregon State, it’s game against Notre Dame will be the last one it has to play before the bowl. Win and Stanford is assured of a spot in the BCS Top 10 and undoubtedly a BCS Bowl bid, likely to the Fiesta.

Lose and Andrew Luck and company will have to settle for a minor bowl.

Michigan

3 of 3

Nearly every major bowl predictor currently has Michigan playing in a BCS Bowl this year but that is assuming it can beat rival Ohio State. The Buckeyes were able to get the best of Denard Robinson and company last year but this year’s defense is noticeably better.

With the game being played in the Big House, there is a good chance the 15th ranked Wolverines can jump into the Top 14 and grab a BCS bid because of their national appeal and traveling fans.
