Urban Meyer to Ohio State: Bad Season Will Have Good Ending for Buckeyes

The worst-kept secret in sports is starting to make its way out with reports from WKMG in Orlando quoting sources as saying that former Florida head coach Urban Meyer has agreed to a deal to become the next coach at Ohio State.

Sources told Local 6 that former University of Florida head coach Urban Meyer has agreed in principle to become the next head coach of Ohio State University, and will be introduced in the coming days.

According to Sports Director David Pingalore's sources, Meyer has agreed to a seven-year, $40 million deal.

On Monday, Meyer told the Gainesville Sun that he felt good enough mentally and physically to return to coaching, but there had been no interview with Ohio State.

"

This is just a report for now, and Meyer has already denied that he has taken the job or that there is anything pending.

"I have not been offered any job nor is there a deal in place," Meyer said in a statement. "I plan on spending Thanksgiving with my family and will not comment on this any further."

This has been a terrible season for the Buckeyes, granted it was their own stupidity that led to all their problems, but now hope is on the horizon.

The deal still has yet to be finalized, but considering that the two sides have been rumored to be close to an agreement for nearly a week I would be willing to bet that we get some resolution to this story after the Buckeyes' game on Saturday with Michigan. 

If Meyer takes the job, he has his work cut out for him. This is a young team that was built in the mold of former coach Jim Tressel.

Meyer's style, as everyone knows, is vastly different from Tressel's. He will have to rebuild that entire offense in order to make it fit what he wants to do. That is going to require time and patience from everyone associated with the program. 

But for now, assuming Meyer does sign a deal to become the next Ohio State head coach, it is a great time to be associated with the university and a step in the right direction.
