WWE Survivor Series Results: Dolph Ziggler Is PPV's Biggest Loser

Adam WellsNov 23, 2011

Dolph Ziggler has become the newest WWE “It” performer over the last few months, thanks to his tremendous work in the ring and improving skills on the microphone. But this week has been a showcase for all that is wrong with the creative direction for him.

The week started out on a high note with Ziggler and John Morrison having the best match on the Survivor Series pay-per-view. However, it was obvious that the fans did not care about the match or result because they wanted to see Zack Ryder.

Then, Ziggler was pinned by Randy Orton after about a minute in the Survivor Series elimination match.

So WWE puts Ziggler over against a mid-card worker that has been buried for so long that he stopped caring, but has him lose to one of the top stars in the company right away. That doesn’t help anyone get over.

The puzzling booking continued on Raw with Ziggler taking on CM Punk. Don’t get me wrong, the match was great and Ziggler more than held his own against the WWE champion. But presumably he is going to lose the United States title to Zack Ryder soon, and Ryder has been getting buried for months despite being over big with the crowd.

So what does it say to the audience when a wrestler like Ryder, who is made to look like a dork, beats Ziggler? If you have followed the illogical string of booking that I just talked about, you come to the conclusion that Ziggler looks like a dork.

That is completely the opposite of what WWE should be doing with Ziggler right now. He is the best wrestler—sorry, CM Punk—in the company today. He has the charisma in the ring and is improving on the microphone to the point where he more than can get by.

WWE is screwing up a potential money-making superstar in Dolph Ziggler with the puzzling booking decisions.

What makes matters worse is that WWE realizes how good Ziggler is in the ring because he has wrestled four times on the last two pay-per-views.

There are only so many times that WWE can make someone look like a dork before the crowd stops caring about them. We haven’t quite hit that point with Ziggler, but the fact that we are even talking about it is a problem that needs to be rectified immediately.
