BCS Rankings: 5 Top 25 Teams We Know Are Bound to Mess Up
There may only be two weeks left before the last BCS Poll is released, but that is still plenty of time for some of the nation’s best to mess up.
Some teams have to play really tough opponents while others are notorious for screwing things up against lesser opponents.
Here are the five Top 25 teams we can guarantee will lose before the season is over.
Clemson
1 of 5It has become an annual thing for Clemson to come in with a talented team and then lose to lesser opponents. It has gotten so bad that people on Twitter have started using the term “Clemsoning” to refer to when a highly ranked team doesn’t show up to a game.
With games against No. 12 South Carolina and a trip to the national championship, you just know that one of those games will end up in a loss.
Texas
2 of 5Texas’ remaining two games are road trips to in-state rivals Texas A&M and Baylor and as the Bears showed last week, they are pretty hard to beat in Waco.
A&M will be looking to end this rivalry on a good note at home and you can beat that the “12th Man” will be as loud as ever.
One of these games will undoubtedly end in a loss.
Penn State
3 of 5Not only do the Nittany Lions have to keep their focus on the football games ahead and not the sex abuse scandal rocking the campus, but they have to beat two really good football teams as well.
Wisconsin’s only two losses this year came on the road on Hail Mary passes and it is scoring an average of 45 points per game. Penn State’s offense can’t keep up with those kind of numbers.
And should it get to the Big Ten Championship game it would have to face Michigan State who’s defense could be better than Penn State’s. There’s no way this team wins its next two games.
Houston
4 of 5The Cougars have yet to beat a team all season that has won more than seven games and nine of their 11 wins have come against teams ranking in the bottom third nationally in points allowed per game.
Their next two games are against Tulsa and SMU who are a combined 17-5 and each have defense ranking in the top half of the country.
It doesn’t seem as though this team is prepared to handle its next two games.
Georgia
5 of 5The Bulldogs still have to play two teams ranked in the Top 25 including a game at their bitter rival Georgia Tech as well as the SEC Championship game against LSU, Alabama or Arkansas who are ranked 1-2-3 in the latest BCS Poll.
Not only did they lose to Boise State in the Georgia Dome but in all the rest of their games away from home, the average margin of winning is just a touchdown and the teams they’ve played on the road are a combined 18-26 and only Florida has a winning record.
At least one of their next two games will end up in a loss.
