Week 12 Waiver Wire: Jabar Gaffney and More Smart WR Pickups

Nicholas GossNov 23, 2011

Washington Redskins receiver Jabar Gaffney is a quality veteran player that is dependable at this time of the year, and the same is true for your fantasy football team.

Determining which wide receivers to pick up off the waiver wire is difficult, especially at this point of the season, which is why veterans and young guys with something to prove are your best bets.

Let's look at three wide receivers you will not regret adding to your roster for Week 12.

1. Titus Young

The Detroit Lions wide receiver has 13 catches for 154 yards and two touchdowns the last three weeks which is pretty good production for a player likely on most league's waiver wires.

Young plays in a great passing offense with quarterback Matthew Stafford and benefits from never being double-teamed due to team's attention paid to All-Pro teammate Calvin Johnson.

Pick up young if you need an emergency replacement at wide receiver this week.

2. Early Doucet

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Early Doucet has played well the past few weeks and benefits from his team typically having to pass the ball a lot due to falling behind early in most games.

With Larry Johnson receiving double teams constantly, Doucet will often be open and get targets from Cardinals quarterback John Skelton.

Doucet has a good matchup in Week 12 against the St. Louis Rams who allow 213 passing yards per game and have no elite players in the secondary.

3. Jabar Gaffney

Washington Redskins wide receiver Jabar Gaffney is a quality veteran player who quarterbacks Rex Grossman and John Beck will target quite a bit in the coming weeks.

Gaffney has caught 22 passes for 300 yards and two touchdowns over the past five weeks, and might be the best receiver remaining on your fantasy league's waiver wire.

With matchups against the New England Patriots and Minnesota Vikings left, Gaffney has a couple poor pass defenses left to play.
