Liverpool vs. Manchester City: Preview, Live Stream, Start Time and Schedule

Nicholas GossNov 22, 2011

Liverpool's 2-1 win over Chelsea vaulted them into the top four of the Premier League table, but their title run does not get any easier as they host the league leaders Manchester City at Anfield on Saturday.

City is coming off a disappointing 2-1 loss to Serie A side Napoli on Tuesday, but in the Premier League, they are on fire.

City has won their last six league games and destroyed Manchester United 6-1 at Old Trafford. Liverpool will have an opportunity to prove they are again among England's elite on Saturday when they host one of the most talented teams in the world.

Let's look at everything you need to know about this awesome Premier League matchup.

Where: Anfield, Liverpool, England

Watch: Fox Soccer Channel, Foxsoccer.tv, Sky Sports HD1

When: Sunday, Nov. 27 at 11:00 a.m. EST

Player to watch for Liverpool: Luis Suarez

Luis Suarez will be the difference in whether Liverpool win this game or not. City are going to score goals, and that means the Reds big offensive players must show up.

Suarez is Liverpool's best goal scorer, and he must play well for Liverpool to have any chance to upset the Premier League leaders.

Player to watch for Manchester City: Mario Balotelli

The Italian has been in fine form of late and is leading a very dangerous Manchester City attack. Balotelli is so talented, and when he is mentally into the game, there are few players more dangerous.

Liverpool's center backs are not that great, and Balotelli could surely dominate the Reds defense if given the chance.

Key Matchup: Liverpool vs. David Silva and Yaya Toure

Midfielders Yaya Toure and David Silva are two of Manchester City’s best players, and both stars ignite the City attack with great passes from the midfield to the strikers.

Liverpool has to put Silva and Toure under pressure when they are on the ball and prevent them from having the time to easily pick out a pass to a striker such as Balotelli making a good run toward goal.

What They’re Saying

New midfield signing Craig Bellamy talked about his move to re-join Liverpool.

“This was everything I wanted,’ said Bellamy. "I'd never sound negative against Rafa or Gerard Houllier because they did so much for the club and were outstanding for the club.

But this was the Liverpool I grew up supporting. I watched the way they played towards the end of last season, the passing and moving, the free-flowing football. It felt like it was back.”

Prediction: Manchester City 3-2

Liverpool has not scored more than two goals in a game in any competition since August 27, and against a Manchester City side that scores goals at will, that isn’t a good stat trend.

City has too much firepower with Balotelli and Sergio Aguero leading the attack. The league leaders will gain a crucial and much-needed win after a poor Champions League display in midweek.
