Kyle Orton Release: Return to Lovie Smith and the Bears Is a Bad Idea

Jesse ReedNov 22, 2011

Since the news of Kyle Orton's release, the major question on everyone's mind is whether or not the Chicago Bears should reunite with their former leader. Lovie Smith has already rejected Orton once, so his return to the Bears would be a bad idea in my opinion.

Everything seems to line up perfectly for his return to Chicago. Broncos president John Elway said this about the move,

"

"We just thought it was the best for the Broncos at this time as well as give Kyle an opportunity to catch on with another team."

I would argue that Orton would be better suited to take his services elsewhere, however. What does the man have to gain from going back to a place that didn't want him before? Even if he does go to Chicago, the Bears and their fans will breathe a huge sigh of relief whenever Jay Cutler is healthy enough to return.

Orton would be better suited to go down to Texas and sign with the Houston Texans. Both the Texans and the Bears are in the running for the playoffs, but Orton would be able to start from scratch in Houston. Besides, the Texans have a much better infrastructure built in to their offense than that of the Bears.

Remember the success Orton had with Brandon Marshall and Brandon Lloyd? Imagine what he might accomplish throwing to Andre Johnson.

Everyone and their mother wants Orton to go back to Chicago, but he shouldn't touch that situation with a 10-foot pole.

Kyle Orton should reject the notion of playing for his former team and move on to greener pastures.
