NFL Picks Week 12: Over/Under Locks to Bet the House On

Alex KayNov 24, 2011

Playing the point total of the Week 12 games is a good way to get in on the action if you aren’t comfortable with the point spreads this week.

Lines have become very tight and it’s tough to pick winners as the season goes on and bookmakers have the teams all figured out.

Here are a few over/under totals and the way I think you should play them if you are making your picks for the Thanksgiving games as well as Sunday.

Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers (Over/Under 56)

These are two powerful offenses that will be engaged in a shootout on Turkey Day.

While the line total is high, it’s not up in the stratosphere and Matt Stafford, Calvin Johnson, Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay receivers should help it get well over that.

I don’t think we are going to see much defense in this nationally televised game so look for this to be back and forth as the Packers try to remain unbeaten and the Lions try to assert their dominance.

Indianapolis Colts vs. Carolina Panthers (Over/Under 44.5)

Cam Newton may not even be the best rookie quarterback this season but he certainly is the most fun to watch and capable of putting up the most points.

His defense is going to have the ball back in his hands often as the Colts are offensively anemic and highly prone to turnovers.

If Newton gets a couple extra possessions in this game, he’s guaranteed to put up a ton of points. I can see this one finishing with a score of Carolina 35, Indianapolis 14.

Atlanta Falcons vs. Minnesota Vikings (Over/Under 44.5)

Adrian Peterson is going to probably miss this game with his high ankle sprain and the Vikings really don’t have another solid offensive weapon.

Percy Harvin is capable of scoring but he is injury prone and can’t handle a ton of touches.

The Falcons defense is going to fluster rookie QB Christian Ponder and this game should end with a low scoring outcome.
