NFL Picks Week 12: Picking Winners for All Thanksgiving Day Games

Wes ODonnellNov 24, 2011

A new rivalry will be born on Thanksgiving Day 2011.

We still have the Dallas Cowboys and Detroit Lions hosting their traditional games, but a new rivalry between head coaches is about to take shape.

Jim Harbaugh, in his first year with the San Francisco 49ers, will be taking on his brother, John Harbaugh, of the Baltimore Ravens.

Both teams lead their respective divisions and both seemed poised for a postseason run.

This, however, is the first time they'll be coaching against one another.

The 49ers and Ravens will play in the third of the day's three games. Here are the winners of each:

Packers (-6.5) at Lions

We've been anticipating this matchup for quite some time now. As soon as the Lions got off to a hot start everyone was excited about their potential to knock off the Packers.

In reality though, and this game features the two quarterbacks leading the league in touchdown passes, the Packers are still far and away the better team.

Green Bay has given up some yards and some points so far this season though.

With the entire country watching, I expect them to make a statement against the Lions.

Packers (-6.5)

Dolphins at Cowboys (-7)

This game is very intriguing. Both teams come in on three game winning streaks, but it is the Dolphins who are on a four-game cover streak.

Miami's surprising play has not only notched them wins straight up, but also against the spread.

The Cowboys haven't been as fortunate and have only covered once in their last three games.

Eventually the Dolphins are going to run out of magic, but I don't think it will be this week—against the spread at least.

If Miami doesn't win they'll at least cover.

Dolphins (+7)

49ers at Ravens (-3)

This spread still doesn't make sense to me. The 49ers are unbeaten against the spread on the year while the Ravens have been one of the more up-and-down teams.

Battle of the Harbaugh brothers features Jim's San Francisco squad sporting a 9-0-1 record against the spread this season.

The 49ers have earned the distinction of not betting against them until they lose. Getting three points makes them a no-brainer.

49ers (+3)
