BCS Rankings: Elite Teams That Will Be on Cruise Control in Week 13

Tim DanielsNov 22, 2011

After a helter-skelter week of games last week, you can be sure that coaching staffs around the nation are using that as an example that every team is dangerous. Thanks to that reminder and superior talent, here are three top-10 teams that will roll to victory in Week 13.

No. 7 Boise State Broncos

After a stunning loss to TCU two weeks ago, Boise State bounced back with a blowout win against San Diego State. Kellen Moore continues to post eye-popping numbers. The senior is completing 74 percent of his throws and has 35 touchdowns.

Coupled with Doug Martin and Tyler Shoemaker, they form one of the best offensive trios in all of college football. The Broncos could have benefited from more playmakers on defense, but thus is life in a non-power conference. Depth is always an issue.

Boise should have no problem taking over sole possession of second place in the MWC by beating Wyoming.

No. 9 Oklahoma Sooners

Oklahoma's second loss, last Saturday at Baylor, was much better than its first against Texas Tech. That said, a loss is a loss and now the Sooners will have to bounce back against an Iowa State squad which just upset Oklahoma State.

The offense was able to survive the loss of Ryan Broyles, scoring 38 points against Baylor, but the defense remains a major concern. It's a unit that is giving up more than 22 points per game and the only opponent they kept below 13 was MAC representative Ball State.

That said, the Sooners should be able to ease past the Cyclones, setting up a big season finale versus the in-state rival Cowboys.

No. 10 Oregon Ducks

Oregon's nine-game winning streak was snapped by USC on Saturday. The Trojans have a lot of talent, but you'd expect a national title game to win that game at home. Now, the Ducks have to defeat Oregon State to secure the Pac-12 North crown.

The dynamic duo of LaMichael James and Kenjon Barner have totaled more than 2,300 yards and tallied 25 touchdowns for the high-flying Ducks. Factor in Oregon State's defense, which is allowing more than 180 yards per game on the ground, and it'll likely be a long afternoon for the Beavers.

Even though the BCS National Championship Game ship has probably sailed, the Ducks are still firmly in the BCS hunt.
