MLB Trade Rumors: Pitchers Guaranteed To Change Teams This Winter

Tim KeeneyNov 22, 2011

Here's a quick look at three pitchers whose names are heating up during the winter and will surely be traded before next season.

Gio Gonzalez, Oakland Athletics

The lefty put together his best season of his short career in 2011, posting career highs in ERA, innings pitched, strikeouts and WAR.

According to ESPN, that season hasn't gone unnoticed, either, as many teams are interested in acquiring Gonzalez, who is under team control through 2014.

It would certainly be a typical Athletics move to trade Gonzalez for more young talent before he gets too expensive, and I suspect that to happen.

The Yankees, Marlins, Blue Jays and an assortment of other teams are said to be interested, but the A's are currently driving a hard bargain. Still, I wouldn't be surprised to see Gonzalez move this winter.

Andrew Bailey, Oakland Athletics

Might as well stay on the Athletics because Buster Olney recently wrote the odds of Andrew Bailey being traded are 100 percent.

Those are some pretty good odds.

Bailey had another good season as Oakland's closer as he had 24 saves with an ERA of 3.24 and a WHIP of just 1.10.

Potential suitors, according to Olney, are the Blue Jays, Marlins, Reds and Mariners.

Cheap young closers aren't exactly common, so I would agree Bailey will certainly be dealt.

Brandon League, Seattle Mariners

Jack Zduriencik is a savvy GM, and it wouldn't be surprising to see him trade away Brandon League when his value is quite possibly at its peak.

League had a stellar season for the Mariners, recording 37 saves with a 2.79 ERA and 45 strikeouts.

Keith Law lists League as a closer who is available, and it wouldn't surprise me to see a team that misses on one of the top free agents go after him via trade.
