Tim Tebow: 10 Scenarios in Which Tebow Has a Long, Successful Career
Who knew that a single man could revive a down-and-out team the way that Tim Tebow has for the Denver Broncos?
Riding high with a 4-1 record in their last five games, the Broncos have entrusted their offense with the former Florida Gator, and for good reason.
He has turned the Broncos into a winning team.
But while Tebow shows signs of greatness, he also shows the need for improvement in some facets of the game.
Tebow is young, and he and the Broncos are hoping for a long, bountiful relationship. Can it happen? Yes. The question is, how?
Here are some scenarios in which Tebow can be successful in the future.
Defense Becomes Top 3 in the NFL
1 of 10For Tim Tebow to have a successful career in the NFL, the defense of the Broncos will have to get used to carrying the load.
The defense has played spectacularly since Tebow has taken over, and for his reign as quarterback to continue for years to come the defense will have to continue to be dominant.
The defense has the talent to be a Top Three squad, especially looking towards the future with players like Von Miller and Robert Ayers playing well.
Ayers said in an interview with the Denver Post, “I think it’s just the confidence that the coaches have in the players.”
With the new-born confidence in the Denver defense, Tebow will have the support around him that he needs.
Von Miller Becomes a Monster
2 of 10The Broncos' Rookie of the Year is definitely Von Miller. If you have seen a Broncos game, you will notice that Miller is making a sizeable impression on the defensive end.
Another way that Tebow can have a successful career is having Miller turn into the beast that he shows signs of being.
Miller already has 9.5 sacks on the year and shows no sign of slowing down. He is second only to Julius Peppers all time for total sacks in his first 10 games as a pro.
With Miller already being compared to players like Julius Peppers and Derrick Thomas, his future seems extremely bright.
Both Miller’s future and Tebow’s could coincide to produce a very successful core group for the Broncos.
Division Stays Shaky
3 of 10Right now, the Broncos stand second in their division with an average record of 5-5. The only team that stands in front of them is the Oakland Raiders.
If the trend of the AFC West being down continues, Tebow could be in line for a very strong career.
With the Chargers disappointing just about every critic, the Broncos could step in and be the most powerful team in the division.
The AFC West is wide open at the moment, and if it continues to lack a dominant team, Tebow might find himself sitting pretty in a lackluster division.
Running Game Is Tops in NFL
4 of 10Since Tebow has taken over the offense of the Broncos, they have been the top rushing offense in the NFL.
Now ranked 4th overall in the NFL with 154.9 rushing yards per game, the Broncos look to take the crown as the top rushing offense at the end of the season.
With Tebow at the helm, it looks as if the offense will rely mainly on its running game. An obvious way for Tebow to have a long, successful career is to keep that running game going.
The Broncos definitely have the talent to do so with the revival of Willis McGahee and the threats of Knowshon Moreno and Lance Ball.
No Capable Backup QB
5 of 10If there is no one to compete with Tebow, he will be the obvious starter.
If he wants to have a career where he won’t continually be threatened as the starter, Tebow will have to be the main man in Denver.
For this to happen, the coaching staff will have to prove to him that there is no one that will take his spot and give him some confidence for the future.
If Tebow understands that he will be the man for the Broncos as he is now, he will have the confidence needed to be successful for many years to come.
Fan Support
6 of 10The Broncos coaching staff was swayed into starting Tebow because of the enormous fan base that he brings with him.
Now with Tebow in the driver’s seat, he will continue to put fans in the stands. But now that he's won the starting job, he will have to continue to win to keep the fans on his side.
If Tebow keeps his fan support as high as it is now, he will have the support needed to have a long career.
The fact that the fans in Denver are all in favor of Tebow will help his career exponentially. Keeping the fans in the seats is a main factor in a team’s decision-making, and Tebow will be the golden boy for the Broncos as long as they keep him as the starter and he continues to produce.
With his winning mentality, Tebow's fans will never cease to believe in the former Gator.
He Learns How to Pass
7 of 10The most obvious way for Tebow to have a long, successful career is to learn how to be a passer in the NFL.
This does not mean he has to necessarily become a pocket passer, like the Eagles tried to do with Michael Vick, but it does mean that he will have to be able to complete more than five passes a game.
The Broncos' winning streak is the most improbable the NFL has seen in a long time, but it will not continue if Tebow is only one-dimensional.
He showed signs that he is improving as a quarterback with his unbelievable throw to Eric Decker in Week 10, but besides that glimpse he has remained silent as a passer.
If Tebow can learn how to be a passer, he will be an elite quarterback in the league. While it isn't easy to accomplish a feat like that, Tebow does not lack the work ethic needed to do so.
Get Rid of Kyle Orton
8 of 10For Tim Tebow to prosper, the Broncos have to get rid of Kyle Orton.
Orton was the starter in the beginning of the season and did not meet the expectations that were put on him, eventually being replaced by Tebow.
Now that Tebow has proven himself as at least a winner for the Broncos, Denver should try to get rid of Orton.
Best-case scenario, the Broncos can get some good value for Orton. Worst-case scenario, they have to deal Orton for something less than they could have gotten earlier this season.
This scenario goes hand in hand with not having a capable backup quarterback. Without Orton, Tebow will understand that the Broncos have no intention of replacing him as the starter and that can, in turn, boost his confidence.
Continue Option Attack
9 of 10The option attack that Tebow has brought to life with the Broncos has been dominant over the last couple of weeks.
If Tebow and his running backs can continue this attack, they will be unstoppable in the running game.
The option attack can work well in college, but it has not historically worked in the NFL because of the tremendous speed difference between the two.
Somehow, Tebow makes it work.
If he does not become the passer that the Broncos hope he will become, having an elite running game is the next best thing. As long as defenses are kept guessing by the option attack of the Broncos, Tebow can have a long career of shredding defenses.
Tebow Becomes a Dual Threat
10 of 10This is what the Broncos are praying that Tebow becomes.
If Tebow can combine his already elite running game with a decent passing game, the Broncos will become significantly better.
Think about it: Tebow already is winning as just a pure runner, but if he can figure out a way to double up as a dual threat for the Broncos, his ceiling is limitless.
Not only will he have the defenses on their heels the whole game, but he will always have an option to get out of a jam.
Tebow does have talent around him at wide receiver, even though the team dealt Brandon Lloyd. With a young core group of receivers in Eric Decker, Demaryius Thomas and Eddie Royal, the chances for Tebow to become better as a passer are higher.
