2011 Survivor Series Unsung Hero: Dolph Ziggler Earned It Last Night!

Tony DolemiteNov 21, 2011

Last night I had the opportunity to attend the 2011 Survivor Series at Madison Square Garden. I don't know how the event came across to those of you sitting at home, but for me it was everything you would expect an event of this magnitude to be: spectacular to say the least. It was as if the volume were turned all the way up. The theatrics alone made the show worth attending. And don't even get me started on how the roof was blown off when The Rock first appeared on the TitanTron. I will never forget this moment as long as I live. No doubt! It was off the hook and then some.

I have to show love for John Morrison and Dolph Ziggler, because no one else did. They are two of the most overlooked and underrated talents in the business, and they deserved better than to have boos rain down on them. I thought they put on one hell of a match! For whatever reason, neither one of them saw love from the Madison Square Garden crowd. I guess we simply don't play in New York. You better bring something to the table besides nonsense. That's exactly what they did, from the beginning of the match until the end. They more than proved themselves last night. If only the WWE were more open to pushing these guys to the forefront the way they have John Cena, business would be different today. Of course, I am aware that John Morrison has had his share of issues with the company and his future is in doubt. I really felt for the guy because he worked his tail off only to be cascaded with boos that were unwarranted.

Dolph Ziggler is a different animal altogether. Ziggler's future is crystal clear to me. He deserves to be a main event player. He's young, he's got the look, he's got the talent and he's got the classic manager/girlfriend in Vickie Guerrero. What's not to like? Yes he needs to improve on the mic, but give it more time. Besides Vickie fulfills the mouthpiece role quite nicely. He also impressed by doing double-duty last night, taking on Morrison, which was no cakewalk as well as going on to compete later on in the five on five classic elimination bout. The man is a star, folks, shining bright. Last night's match made me a fan and makes me want to revisit his other matches.

Ziggler has brought back class and prestige to the United States Championship, a title that has been lost in the shuffle for way too long. It means something once again. You can add Ziggler to the list of superstars who have made this title great. Performances like last night should be taken into consideration when you look at this young man's future. If he doesn't become either WWE Champion or the World's Champion within the next two to three years, then somebody missed the boat on this one and the fans, as well as the company, will be worse off for it.

Like it or not, he simply earned it last night. Give it up for Dolph Ziggler everyone, the true future of the WWE. WWE heavyweight Dolph Ziggler. How does that sound to you? It sounds just fine to me. Now can you dig that!
