WWE Survivor Series 2011 Result: WWE Drops the Ball with John Cena

The WWE had two things they had to do last night to make Survivor Series epic. One was give CM Punk the WWE title, which they did. And two, make John Cena heel so that they can build towards his match with The Rock at WrestleMania XXVIII, which they didn’t. 

In fact they didn’t stay away from the Cena heel turn; they made Cena look like a complete waste of space. By doing so, it completely destroyed Cena’s credibility against The Rock.  

Now if the WWE pulled this kind of stunt with any other superstar rather than Cena, it would have destroyed the character to the point of no return. The way they handled the Cena-Rock confrontation post their main event, made The Rock look like the megastar and Cena just some mid-card wannabe.  

In case you missed the main event at Survivor Series, the New York City crowd ate up anything that The Rock did, while crapping all over Cena. This shouldn’t have been a surprise, as having a more hardcore wrestling fan base in New York City would be expected to boo Cena.  

However, it was the post-match antics that had the crowd’s tension level at an all-time high. The two had a stare-down with The Rock posing on the top turn buckle to the cheers of the crowd, while Cena would pose to a chorus of boos.  

When The Rock told Cena he was going to show him one more time how to get a positive crowd response, it should have resulted in Cena beating on The Rock to end the show.  

Instead what we got was a dumbfounded Cena looking like an idiot in the middle of the ring. 

Afterwards we got a face-to-face confrontation between the two, where again Cena should have turned heel and beat on The Rock. Instead what we got was a Rock Bottom to Cena with Cena rolling out of the ring.  

From there The Rock went back to posing to the crowd, while Cena tuck tailed and walked to the back. 

Pay-per-view over, Cena’s heel turn over and any thought of picking Cena to beat The Rock at WrestleMania XXVIII over.
