WWE Survivor Series 2011: WWE Gets Second Chance to Give CM Punk His Push

After months of being misused by the WWE, the company finally did the right thing and gave the WWE Championship back to CM Punk.

Not only did the match steal the show—with Alberto del Rio and Punk putting on an amazing technical display in the ring—the WWE universe got the outcome they had be yearning for since Punks first push stalled.

We have to go all the way back to June to find the root of this CM Punk hysteria. While Punk had success before, it wasn’t until he decided to have a sit down shoot promo on his expiring contract.

It was the fact that people didn’t know if that was staged, or if it was, how much of the gritty details that Punk exposed were meant to be said. Still to this day, there are disputes on how much of that shoot was scripted.

Whatever the truth is, it didn’t affect the pouring of support and publicity that Punk felt almost immediately.

CM Punk has people caring about wrestling again.

Then came Money in the Bank, where CM Punk won the WWE title and disappeared, giving fans the hope that the WWE had changed its evil ways.

WRONG!

After only being gone for two weeks, the WWE rushed CM Punk back and put him against John Cena. The problem wasn’t that he fought John Cena—the two actually work well together—it was the fact that WWE wanted to put Cena over again.

Why put Cena over though, when you have Alberto del Rio and his Money in the Bank briefcase you can give the belt. In other words, add every element you can to the equation in order to drain all the hype out of CM punk as possible.

Now with the majority of his momentum killed, the WWE will hand the reins to CM Punk in hope that he can save the stale product.

We all know CM Punk is good, but is he good enough to save the WWE?
