WWE Survivor Series 2011 Results: John Cena Will Never Turn Heel
John Cena is never going to be the bad guy. He is never going to do anything to betray the women and children that root for him and buy his merchandise. As much as the Internet Wrestling Community wants to see him do something new, it is not going to happen.
We know that now because if ever there were a time to at least add a layer of dimension to his stupid smiling, happy-go-lucky, aw-shucks character, it was on Sunday night at Survivor Series with The Rock.
The tension between Rock and Cena was teased last week on Raw. Rock gave a Rock Bottom to R-Truth then he pulled The Miz off Cena's shoulders and hit him with the same move.

Cena gave him a look like he couldn't believe what had just happened, and Rock mocked Cena's "you can't see me" hand gesture.
So, the natural assumption was that Cena would try to upstage Rock in his big return match after seven years away. But that is why when you try to assume things in WWE, you often end up with a headache and a strong desire to throw something at the television.
No, instead of getting anything like Cena attacking Rock, we got Rock pinning Miz clean in the middle of the ring after the People's Elbow.
After that, Rock posed in the ring as Cena walked down the aisle applauding Rock's performance. Rock called him back into the ring and basically made him look like a dork and asked why Cena was smiling even though the crowd was booing him unmercifully.
Rock then hit a Rock Bottom on Cena. So after all that tension, drama and build up that Cena might actually do something to make himself look like he cares about what happens, we get Cena doing nothing and taking abuse from The Rock.
Fans have wanted to see a Cena heel turn for a long time because his character, as presently constructed, is so boring and dull. But last night was proof that we are going to have to see the same stale crap from him forever.
Cena deserves better than what the creative team is giving him, but you can't excuse his role in all of this. He is the top star in the company and has a lot more leverage than anyone else. If he wanted his character to change, he would say something to make it happen.
Unfortunately, Cena does not want that. So he is just going to have to keep smiling at the crowds as he gets booed by anyone with a Y chromosome over the age of 12 because that is not going away anytime soon.
